Second pic, the acro with venus fly trap looking corallites and polyps......... prettiest looking thing i've seen in ages Greg. I love that huge pale skin table in the last pic - i think that's the same as the one i bleached a while back when i moved it lol. My little colony is hairy all the time which actually hides some of the true purple tip color if you know what i mean, anything like yours ?

More pics please..........

Thanks Andrew. That was a "brown-apora I added a while back and it is living up to the potential that I hoped it would have.:D That large piece you refer to I believe is A.plana and the metalic green on the base just doesn't come through in my pictures. I like it as well, it is finally getting the purple tips I was looking for and has good polyp extension so like yours it hides them.;)

Wow, I love this one. So many colors in it. I can see this coral getting better and better in your tank. How long have you been growing this one?
Thanks - it is coming along slowly but surely- added it as a brown blob about a year ago and I am pleased with it's color which keeps getting better all the time..

Interesting observation - I raised my lights up so I could get in and take some pictures about 7 weeks ago and never got around to lowering them back closer to the surface where they normally sit but since the lights have been raised another 6-8 inches higher up above the surface, for the most part my colors have improved. Not sure if it is just a coincidence but now I don't want to lower them again just in case. Any thoughts or experiences anyone can share?

Remembering how your lights are suspended, that must have been a bit of time to move them. I'm curious as to why the colors are improving. Having seen your tank in person I wouldn't think it possible to have better color :)

Darryl,
raising the lights is easy - I just squeeze the two hangers together with a zip tie and it raises them. I am also curious why the colors improved although I did start adding extra iodide after water changes at about the same time frame.

Zip ties! So many uses for aquariums! You mentioned brown corals when you introduced them into your tank. In your experience what is the biggest factor to get them to color up?

I was thinking that to lower them after raising them had a noticeable and significant positive impact would be a stupid thing to do. Don't touch the bloody lights

Time.....;) Lots of time. Also you need to have good water quality & lighting. The other big factor in my opinion is genetics - if you start with a crap coral you end up with a crap coral.

Efflos - why are they so hard to get a decent picture of?

Here's a fairly recent addition that is starting to get some color

I quite like this monti - the two little frags are slowly growing together which was the idea but it was going to happen much faster in my mind.

This baby is a very slow grower but the color is pretty nice.
