I recently spent some time in Miami. Here are a few pics I took...

You can see the rest of the slide show here...

Your shots are not only technically awesome but you press the shutter release at the right time to capture the creature doing something interesting. Makes for very powerful photos IMHO, like the white tiger shot with its ears back. Whoa!

I love the textures of the duck feathers though the one on your site of the same specie I think is a better shot. The turtle "yelling" is cool. Like he's trying for that Bud commerical. The owl like bird looks like a piece of living bark. The image of its head only is sweet too. And what's on top of the pelican's beak? The front on camel makes me laugh! The oryx' horns are awesome. The two flamingoes kissing way cool. Seeing each hair on the furry mammals makes me want to take a hair brush to them!

Was there a particular lens you found yourself using most for these?

Really sweet Ryan. My favorite was the tortis above and #41. Is that a badger? Very nice.

Thanks for the kind words. I came out of the gate with my Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS, but I quickly realized i was falling way short and I would be cropping too much, so I switched to my Canon EF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6L IS. It was a little slow in the shaded areas, but it turned out OK.

No, it was an Otter. There were 3-4 in this huge display. I sat and watched them for a long time. They were having a blast... :D

Nice Ryan! I really like the processing on these as well.
Thanks Doug. As you know, this was my first attempt using Lightroom 2.0, and so far, I must say, I like it much better than Aperture 2. It's much more intuitive...

I love otters! I almost ran one over last week. Luckily I was on a dirt road going about 10 miles an hour so I could slam on my breaks. All that could be seen at first was his tail sticking up over my hood as he ran across the road.

Thanks Guys, watching these crazy little Otters tear things up was a blast. Talk about perpetual motion....

I really love how much color is in the photos without at all seeming over saturated. Fantastic pictures!

You know, I keep coming back to this thread, and every time that shot of the tourtise blows me away. I'd definaly be trying to print it as large as I could and wall-mount it... if it were mine...

Honestly, that right there is a photo of envy....

Can you tell us a little about the circumstanses of the photos? Were you out to get these shots? Where you just walking around and "grabb'ed" em? Did you use a tripod?

Well, i was definitely on a mission. I took a total of 24GIG worth of pictures in a little over 4 hours. No tripod, all hand held. I was really looking to get some "candid" shots, which isn't always easy because the animals aren't in on it...

In the end, I feel good about the session, but if I had my druthers, I would have spent more time in certain areas. I guess hindsight is always 20-20...

Great photos and like many others here at RC my fav is the tortoise!

I looked through your slide show. #44 is a bear. Do you know what type of bear it is? I didn't see silver tips on the fur or a large back hump so I a guessing it is not a grizzly. It sure is molting!
