A few simple questions. . .

1) Is high calcium bad? I use reef crystals salt mix, and per the API calcium test I get 29 drops for water to change; thats off the chart and up in the 600 range; my tank is only about 4 months old now, so I don't know if that will go down as my corals grow and absorb more or what?? They all seem to be doing fine minus one which leads me to question number 2.

2) I recently purchased a orange/pink hammer coral, and it is turning white recently. Now, I bought a new heater which I just noticed was off, as my temp monitor was saying tank temp was 66 degrees even though the heater was set at 79 degrees. That could be the cause. It was like that for 3 days; I corrected the problem and tank is sitting back up at 79 degrees where it should be. Hoping it will get its color back.

Any advice/guidance please?

you need to nuy a seperate temp gage.one with a alarm so you dont fry or freese youre tank and connected to youre heater to shut it off if in danger.i have one that runs chiller if t hot and runs heater if to cold and shuts both off and has alarm if in danger.i got this cause i made soup once clownfish infused reef chowder!it was expensive but worth it its aqua logic nema 4x.600 is high i couple of water changes will bring it down but its a 4 month old tank with nothing to absorbe the calcium and it could bother the hammer also.check the water you are useing b4 you add also to see if that is were its comming from.gl bro keep a eye on those temps the ocean does not fluctuat that much around reefs at all so this can be detrimental to all the life in youre tank.watch out for ich in youre fish and be ready to qt if you see it.
