What would be a good Eel to start out with other than a snowflake moray? I'm not trieng to be picky here but I was pretty dead set on a garden eel but it looks like it's not going to happen so what would be another relativly "smaller" eel that is some what reef and fish friendly?

Zebra Moray, would be the only other eel i can think of.

Have you considered engineer gobies? They max out at about one foot and look very eel-like as adults.

the only other el I can think of is the canary eel they run about 300.00 if you can find them. You are going to be very very limited with the eel parameters you have set. Most grow large, eat reef inhabitants or have very specific care requirements. I'd go for the engeneer gobies they are pretty cool or a snowflake if you are dead set on an eel.

Why not a snowflake eel? They're pretty small and from what I've read, they won't attack fish if you keep them well fed.
