I am in contact with guy in Fla. who may be interested in your 240 Coralbuyer. Are you interested in hauling it down with you and possibly meeting someone to exchange cash and drop it off?

Don't say I never did nuthin' for ya!

yea I'd be able to possibly do that depending on where he lives and if he can wait till I move in August cuz its still going to have my fish until then. Have him get in touch with me by PM or call me or something.... or you could just PM me the details.
Thanks

Sent you another PM Coralfarmer.
Stacker we all could put a value on our time but that might bring the price down...lol.

Whats your product line consist of? Just curious Ive done alot of differnt design work over the years. Alway like to talk shop.

I design and build alot of one-off pieces of production machinery, testing (environmental) platforms and go/nogo gaging. I also do light fab, custom BBQ grille design and build, and aquaruim pieces parts. sumps, fuges, etc... etc... Jack of all Master of a few trades.

So you build some fixtures and BBQ grills lol thats a wide margin. If my past has any lesson to teach it would be that at the end of the day there is probably more money in the BBQ's.
We did a 16 ft BBQ here where I work for the Company Picnic. Had roll out racks end to end propane smoker boxes counter weighted doors on a tandem axle trailor. Thing roasted 40 pork butts, 100 lbs of chicken quarters and 2 full hogs all at the same time. Looked like a big smoking torpedo.

Sent you back another PM... as for stacker, he spends most of his valuable time telling people how valuable his time is ;)
PM back at ya.

Wide margin is right! In this area if you aren't diverse you'd better be punching a time clock or have a solid niche.

I do the BBQ's because it's actually fun and I had to make my own because most I've seen are WAY overpriced pieces of crap. Here's 3 I have pics of.

Rib cooker for a buddy who did a few burnoffs. Propane only

My personal grill for pickincs and small outings. Wood/propane

Larger unit w/ 4-8' rotisserie's wood.propane

I have alot of ideas but no cash to make them happen and no deep pocketed buyers.

I'd like to build custom aquariums too but getting the proper equipment and hardware cost more than I'd sell in a year around here. Maybe I need to move!

Very nice. clean too. Not all cluttered up. Down here (in the South) BBQ is like a science. These folks around here take it to an extreme. Just down the road from where I live this guy builds Choo-Choo Barb-a-Ques. They look like old Steam engine Locomotives. Lol..Pretty cool but not pratical for the average Joe.
Personally Id be more apt to buy something like what your building just because its cut and dried and clean. You can do what ever you need to it and add on if you had a special requirment. Like coolers or more storage if you had the need or want. I like the traps at the bottom too, good idea.
Well I got bad news for Coralfarmer Wife declined me on his 240. Shes thinks I wont be happy with it and having to drill it makes her nervous. I had pretty much convinced myself that a 290 tall was what I would be more pleased with after I posted my WTB post. I still may know someone who is interested if I run into him again. I had allready designed a steel stand for it and Im rewiring my house where its going to sit. No changing my womans mind now.
She pretty much berated me for not staying the course when I mentioned it to her. The only difference is the 290 is 30 wide not 24 and its drilled with twin over flows. I suggested to Ryan he should try and dump it up north since tanks are plentiful here they dont tend to go for as much. Stand looks sweet too so you never know.
If I gather correct hes bumping up to a 310? thats awesome. See, thats the other thing If I settle for the 240, I get a deal but I think Id wish I got the 290 later. I chose the 290 just because it s still 72 long which is about as much wall as I have without a major remodeling project. Otherwise sky is the limit. Id be willing to bet he was space limited when he got that 240 just for the simple fact that 240 to 310 isnt that much of a jump but the 310 is longer. Otherwise he would have just got a 310 and been done with it or he got a great deal on the 240 and couldnt pass it up. Hey maybe you can buy his 240 and mount it on a trailor and drive it around and give seminars on reef tank care at local schools lol..Just an un-orthodox idea. :mixed:

Ya, I've seen just about every cooker there is from competition to restaraunt to production to old oil barrels. The theme grilles are cool to look at but 100% fluff as far as cooking is concerned. I'm a BBQ fanatic and cook alot so I decided I had to make my own. Ofcourse after it's built you come up with mods but I did alot of looking, then build a grille, then looked some more, then sketched a dozen concepts, then laid it all out in AutoCAD and went from there. the biggest problem is functionality. I wanted smoke but not 100% wood or charcoal fired and propane for ease of use and flexibility. Making both work took some combustion and convection study but it ended up working like a dream. I don't brag much but I've never heard anyone comment about my Q that wasn't raving. 1/2 me, 1/2 the cooker... LOL

Ryan teaching? LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL... If you had any idea how funny that is!

Hey, I thought I'd try and help the boy out. Another wasted effort but I can live widit.

No problem Biggie, I'd go with the 290 if i could too. I have someone who may be interested here so I'm glad I don't have to haul it halfway across the world :p Goodluck on your tank project, and the only reason I got a new tank was because I didn't think i could keep my livestock alive while moving this tank 1200 miles and having to reset so the 310 will be waiting ready when i get there... so thats my chance to upgrade lol, so I capitalized :smokin:

Well you know him I dont so Ill take that reponse as a "not gonna happen". The BBQ scene has been big last few years. Seems like everyone wants one. Myself included. We do alot of stainless work here so Im waitng for some high dollar mistakes so I can capitalize on the scrap and make mine out of some 3a or some XL suede lol..I got a guy here who can polish like a mirror too good guy. Thats an art in itself. Most of the Claim units in the airports our company makes and installs. We own the maintance company that keeps the baggage conveyors running as well. All the Stainless in the airports is done here. Havent had a job requiring any but its will come sooner or later. When it does Ill be there like a vulture with a tape measure. Thts how Im building my stand right now out of 1.5 x 1.5. x .120 Sq A36. we make the legs to those claims out of the same material so when they screw up a cut on the saw in my truck it goes lol..Im just about there now. Same here I do alot of CAD for my own projects.
Sititng on a CAD to 90% of the day. Back and forth Surf the net do alittle CAD:) . So hot here this time of year not much else to do. 91% humidity today. Likely to kill ya for mowing the lawn on days like this. You can the vapor in the air looks like Vietnam or something. Good day to have a BBQ and a cold one under a shade tree and just relax.
