A January meeting

Aquasd sent out the package and its coming in tomorrow before 10:30am. Corals will then be brought directly to the meeting, so members who purchased some can just collect them there. I also have at least 8-10 extra frags that survived so there will be more to choose from.

As I'm new to this group I'll be showing up but not bringing coral. However I'd be happy to bring food/beverages of some type, what are we short on?

Whatever you feel were short on based on individuals responses. Not really a picky group. Looking forward to meeting you.

OK. Why do unexpected things happen on meet day?

Power went out about 20 minutes ago. It gets REALLY quiet in the house without water running!

Everything back on line now. Apex handled it fine. Pumps running, water flowing, heat being made! YEA!!

Time for a meeting!!

Watch those asd zoas for aiptasia. Mine was covered in baby aips.
I would be embarrassed to sell something like that.....just such poor care sometimes. Pull from main system and take care of aptisha.. They rather get it gone and then have customer do there job.:angryfire: lazyness ugh...

It was nice to meet several of you today. Thanks for hosting Aquanut, also when you find the name of that clove let me know :)

Good to meet you too!

I believe it is Sympodium. Here's a link to it on LA:

IIRC, I got it at the holiday party at Robert's house. I don't know who it's from, though. Perhaps they will see this post and give a shout out!

If you want some, let me know. It seems healthy enough to frag now.

We have sympodium at the farm...if you want to post a pic I can give a second opinion...we see it under natural sunlight, leds, etc, so are pretty familiar with the different ways it can look. Never heard of anyone selling it besides myself and LA, so that is pretty cool! It is a rare one, for sure! :)

Sorry i missed it fellas...promise to be at the next one...

SWK, I just transferred both my 20 gallons to a 40 breeder on Christmas eve and i found a couple aiptasia's. I took the rock out and tried to get a good scrape off of them. Of course it didnt work and of course i woke up the next morning with a bunch of baby aips lol, that Saturday i went bought 2 peppermint shrimp and they were all the aips were gone by Tuesday...People say its hit or miss with them but dont know theyre 2 different kinds of peppermints, you have to get the ones that are mostly red...hope that helps next to you get some aips and to anyone else in the club

WooHoo, I MIGHT have a rare coral!

I'll try to get a pic of it today and post here.

Puffy, thanks for the post. Since you are on the other coast, I'm guessing you weren't the one bringing this coral to the meet. :) Any advise you have for it's care would be appreciated. Is this an invasive coral like Xenia?

And Puffy, I tried to go to your webpage listed on RC and got a 'webpage not available' error!

IIRC, there are many more than two 'peppermint' shrimp. I've heard it referred to as the 'peppermint complex'. There might only be one species that is a reliable Aptasia hunter. They look similar and I'm not sure color is a reliable identifier. The two in my DT got much redder after introduction to that tank.

I have a link to an article about the complex. If I can find the link :uhoh2:, I'll post it here.

Caffeine kicked in! Here's the link, courtesy of BAYMAC on BAR...

Found i zoa eating nudi from aquasd... i dipped in bayer was milky for 7 min still made it. Good thing i dont put directly into my frag system. Really disappointed at aqua sd. Nothing labled then people got alot of pests. Yah nice corals but **** the pests... inspect better and take care of issues. Seem like they bring in alot of stuff but still....
