A little bit of a tank update.

Thanks for all of the compliments everyone. The tank is viewable from every room in the house. it got lots of compliments on Halloween from all of the kids and family's walking by.
I am enjoying every morning with my coffee in a big way.

More pictures to come soon.

here are a few pictures from this AM. Tank is doing well. I still am battling alk swings but the reactor should be on it shortly. some corals doing great others not. I still think my tank is a little young to accept some SPS. learning the hard way on this.

trying a few different photo coloring options. of course the corals look better with more blue but taking pictures to show them makes it difficult as the blue washes out the great look of the tank.

Just saw this thread. Love the aquascape AND the placement in the house! :)

Why are you having alk swings?

I threw sps in my tank within a month or two. Just made sure my calcium reactor was running first.

And yea, buy yourself an orange gel filter. It will tone down the blue. Makes taking pictures so much easier.

Having all swings as I m still manually dosing. I ordered a calcium reactor in October from Pacific sun in October. Knowing this was going to be delayed some t ended up being a disaster. It arrived in the beginning of January and it was broken. Still trying to get this replaced now waiting for it to arrive. This has been a set back and hopefully soon passed it.

Pacific sun calcium reactor???? Should have just gotten a Geo, and called it a day

It should be a nice reactor as it uses a photo eye and not a ph probe. I did look at Geo and many others . I wanted something with a quiet efficient and many of these do not offer it.

How many yellow tangs do you have currently? What's the current stock? And do you plan to add more fish down the road?

Hello Cody,

Here is my current fist stock list.

2 blue hippo tangs
3 yellow tanks
1 sailfin tang (10 years old)
2 deluxe clarki clownfish
2 orange skunk clownfish
2 stubby clownfish
2 kamohara blennys
2 indigo dotty backs
1 watchman goby
2 yellow line gobies
2 white gobies(forgot the name of these)
3 transparent cave gobies
5 bar gobies
5 green chromis
1 false percula clownfish
1 cleaner wrasse.
3 cleaner shrimp
2 spotted mandarin gobies.
1 swallow tail angel.

The plan is to add schools of fish for me. Although I would love a pack of bandits. I am seeking fish to me that are colorful and diverse.

I will been adding the following hopefully sooner than later but currently in now hurry.
Bartlett's anthias at least 5
Add to dictionary anthias at least 5
masked angel trio if I can find the right size.
2 more swallow tails or Add to dictionary angels.
pack of scooter blennies.
a few various wrasses not yet decided on these. perhaps flame wrasses.
do want a super male though.
assize copper band butterfly

There may be a few more on the list but I am trying to keep it simple, not to much aggression and great colors. I don't feel I need a lot of wallet busters due to the size of the tank I would much rather have many fish then just a few.

I got my calcium reactor up and running and I think it is just about dialed in.

I slowed down the rate some from since the photo was taken. So far I must say I am really liking this. my alk is staying stable with a .2 swing in 4 days.

The tank arrived one year ago today. Very nice to enjoy the progress and looking forward to seeing how much has changed this time next year.

The reactor yes big it took about a 5 gallon bucket of media to fill it.

Hey, stumbled across this thread. Who built your tank? Do you ever wish it was longer?

I am thinking about one with these dimensions, but part of me wants its 8 ft long.

If you have the room, bigger is always good. Just remember the costs go up as well. I have an 8ft tank by the same manufacturer,AGE and I love it.

I used to have a 300 but it was acrylic, currently have a rimless 150 but in the market for another big one. I was thinking 96x36x27

Those are very similar to my dimensions I have 96x36x30 which is about 450 gallons I thinkRichards works out to about the same volume. Not sure what city you are in but you are welcome to come and take a look.
