A little bit of a tank update.

Richard Hiw is your tank doing? Have you figured out what has been going on with it? I had some issues with my tank about 2 months ago when my Apex turned my dosing pump on and raised my ALK to 15. Lost a bunch of SPS, and a very large challice although some SPS were pretty much unaffected. Now I can't raise my ALK above 7 without the tips bleaching on some of my SPS.

Hey, stumbled across this thread. Who built your tank? Do you ever wish it was longer?

I am thinking about one with these dimensions, but part of me wants its 8 ft long.

Hello,

Just saw this. My tank was built by AGE. for my home I think the 6 foot tank suits it well. I love the 48 inch width. I do love the true 600 gallon tanks that are 96-48-30 but would not fit the room well.

Hello Steve,

My tank has had its up and downs to say it mildly. I am still having problems keeping corals. I do think I may have found out the reason now and working to see if it improves it. A recent water test showed metals in the water. I am hoping this was the problem but we will see in a few weeks when I try to add a next round of corals in a few weeks.

I am trying to bring this up to date as I have made some changes and have not updated this thread in a while. Honestly I almost forgot about this.

I have removed the pacific sun calcium reactor some time ago as it just kept breaking and not US sport made it hard to be loyal to it. I have added a Reef Octopus varios CR220 Calcium Reactor. After initial set up it has worked like a champ with the Kameor feed pump. Great set up and very easy to use and adjust. I should have kept it this simple from the beginning.
I have also pulled off the Euroquatics Angel leds some time ago as well. I kept running into ballast issue and then syncing them became a pain. I wanted to try something different and went the hybrid route. I put two Giesmann Aurora lights on it. Love going back to T5 combo and it covered the tank well running them long waze. I just did acquire a third unit and all are 48 inch I will be adding the third light this week as it has not made it to the top of the list.
More updates to come as I will try to take a few pictures to show all. I am thinking of adding a few more fish soon as well.

What metals were in your tank Richard? I sent a test in recently and the only metal that came back high was Selenium. I'm not sure what that is even from or if it would do damage or not.

Cody,

I am showing silver, Aluminum, lead, copper, not large amounts but not showing any selenium. I have added two little fishes meta zorb and I need to run it for 10 days. I will wait a few weeks and then send out another sample to see if things improve. My tank was showing low Iodine so I may add that on a doser for a bit to bring it back up.

Woah dang. I hope you figure it out Richard. I may try the meta zorb"¦ I haven't been able to find much info online about Selenium being bad for the tank.

Sweet tank Ricardo!!! Cant wait to see it all packed!!

Thanks Jose, some day I will have a chalice garden

Hi Richard - how are the pugs doing?

The pugs are getting old. Shark is developing a bad hip and he has good days and bad days. Still have a great dog life and that is what is important.

I am hoping to post some updated pictures in a day or so. just been a little busy.

I thought I would give an update in the tank. I have rebounded well the last few months . It seems like metals were the problem of my tank. Nickel and aluminum was showing presence. I tested it with a remover and now I am back on track. Currently showing great growth, polyp extension and color. Here are shot shots from a few days ago.

I really hate the small frags and the frag plug look but I will just have to live with those for a while as things grow out. Over the weekend I added an Oregon tort and an Event horizon Millie. So far those are doing great as well.
