a miracle delivery... need advice

Agree with Jacwil, no need for fasteners IMHO unless your floor squeaks or something else obvious is "wrong" i.e. there's a spot where the subfloor is uneven or loose, etc.

Instead of using solid wood for blocking, you can get stamped sheet metal blocking straps. The ends are bent to an angle and have holes in them for fasteners. It's probably not a strict requirement, but thinking in the "decades from now" mindset, it's an extra hour or two and a couple bucks for some peace of mind.

LOL...no worries...toenailing a nail or screw is simply sending it in at an angle like if you were to try to fasten those lvl's from below to the bottom side of the subfloor. Similar to a pocket screwing but without the fancy bit. You just have to be careful not to split the board edge while doing it.

As far as the new lvl's tipping over, if you glued the top sufficiently they wont go anywhere...if you wanted you could simply cut a cpl 2x4's and just put them on top of the sill plate between the lvl and the next tji (i beam floor joist). Cut them so they are snug and you wont even need to fasten them. You could get a cpl few angle brackets if you wanted to and fasten to bottom of subfloor and to the lvls but I think that's a touch overkill.

I will PM you my cell# if you have any quick questions and depending on how busy our 3yr old daughter is keeping me, I can help.

thanks der for you advice, i think i will go with the stamped sheet metal as with this i dont need to cut any lumber straight :D

i can gladly post some toys we been aquiring later tonight when i get home
most things to do with the fish tank is a toy, including rocks :D

these pic were taken a few months back, here are some rocks we aquired from a few local reefers, including AaronReef, he was very generous,

here are some we aquired from BRS, great stuff, Ryan was very nice and accomendating was very eager to get me what i wanted, i ask specifically for larger pieces :)

so with some rocks we started experimenting, wanted to create a valley with vertical drop off:

left side stack, very gross as it blocked the view thru:

front view with vertical drop off,

right view, a little better as it give some depth,

wasnt happy with the stack, i want something more 3D, viewable from 3 full sides, something like this but with the base a bit more flatter to the ground:

...gonna work on it another time :)

This may have been asked before and I apologize if it has, but did you request the tank be built with clear silicone? Every tank I have seen made by miracles has black silicone.

yes i requested the tank to be built with clear silicon, as i think black silicon sorta frames the tank

Up until now I preferred black. But it looks good on your tank. I guess I have always veiwed clear on assembly line tanks. Now that I see it on a custom Miracles tank it looks nice.

nice rocks!
thanks! all i need is a student artist, willing to work for digi-frags, to sculpture me the infiniti symbol using acrylic :D

I'm with you Lang. My tank has clear silicone and I'm a big fan!
Everything looks like it's coming along nicely!!!
thanks mark!

thanks! i have to admit that i am a little biased, black silicon would work just as nice as it focuses your attention to the tanks content, where it really counts :D

Will you have enough vertical space on top of your rock design for coral placement? A flat ledge on top would allow more coral placement higher up (SPS & light loving corals). Just a though.

hi matt, your right, i am gonna try the infinity highway aquascaping where it will give me lots of flats surface :D

update:
i did manage to make a baby step progress, bracing is now complete :D

it was too difficult to center the brace and work in such a small space :spin1:

little progress lots more pics to come :)

so to midigate the air quality issue we have, more so humidity, we decided to go with HRV unit; Fantech 3005R. for those that are unfamilar with this system heres a diagram from the manufacturer:

image.aspx

i think a system like this has a lot of potiential to recover heat from many sources... but i am going to use it as its intended for now :D

shipping was quick, but packaging was pretty aweful, the worst i have seen, it came in just like that!
thank goodness that everything is undamaged, here is a pic of the controller:

since the HRV unit will be drawing air from outside, figure a prefilter is needed, here is what it looks like:

again, packaging is horrible,
image.aspx

a pic of the insides, going to replace the filter with something better for alergies :)
image.aspx

not as many filters as i would like, but will suffice for now,

so heres the monster, its quite heavy and much more bigger than i thought!

again, packaging could have been much better, though undamage :)

useless pic, hehe

the metal used is pretty thick, took a while to figure how the door latch worked :spin1:
