Get that bad boy going!

Hello friends.
You must still have a little patience.
The new tank is comming at the weekend. I will always keep you on the most current state of knowledge!
:D

Just a quick questions please take no offense, as I was inspired by your orginal tank and am currently planning on setuping up my 225 along the same lines, dsb, prob, ect. So my question is..

Did your sandbed crash from soaking up all the nutrients for the past few years, or is your current system running just great?

Thanks, just wondering what to expect.

My DSB runs until now very good! I never had a problem with DSB. A DSB is a very easy and successful way to reduce nutrients!

My project is a step further again, the new tank is "flown in"

Just a question about Deep sand beds. Can a deep sand bed keep working infinitely or after many years will it become "full" and start to cause problems. I have read opinions that point in both directions. What is your thought??

good question...I don't know. I had my system for two years without problems. But no idea what happens after 5 or 10 years. I have read some reports which have described a disaster after many years. But I have also read reports about many reefs with DSB who runs very successful since many years.

iwan - dang you're upping the bar again?? man people haven't even caught up to you yet.

can't wait to see what a master of beautiful corals can do w/ the new set up.

keep us posted

Welcome back Iwan

I too will be very interested in this thread a your thoughts and experiences with full zeovit .

I have one question did you ever try to run your other method with a shallow sand bed ?

I have about a inch in my tank and I am running a split system

I spent several hours catching up in the other thread. I'm happy to get in at the start on this one.

I am anxious to see your improvements.

They can, but most big tank owner don't like the look of them in the display. You could set up a remote fuge for that purpose. That way it can be easily changed if need be.

You probably are already aware of his tank, but yours looks very similar to Oregon Reefs. You might want to hit him up for some ideas on this subject and/or others. www.oregonreef.com

iwan, you crazy mother! you need to see doctor! Well, we all need to see a doctor. :D

Was that a mammoth tank going up a ladder??? What have you trained your sofa to do??

Iwan, I'll be in Basel next week. Would it be possible to see your tank in person, or is the famous one gone now? I may have time to stop by on Wednesday or Thursday for a few minutes.

Hi Melev, the old tank is gone. I will place a lot of frags from my corals into the new tank.
I guess you will not be the last time in Switzerland. And next time you'll find a new tank, who's much better and impressive than the old one was.

I know this tank...a very impressive thing.
Mine is much smaller than the 850 g "Oregon Reef". I have only 250 g.
