xray-HA!

shipment-really dumb question alert-how do you know you will get a male or a juvi?

i only ask because, well, i have that luck sometimes. (see previous ankle comment!!!)

I talk to the vendor before they ship usually. Nothing is fool proof. It's the best I can do. Once they arrive, I QT them then see how they interact.

WetSleeves,
Who are ordering from? I looked up Extreme Aquariums, and saw that their online store was shut down temporarily while they do some work to it....

Nick

I ordered my nigripes through Blue Zoo Aquatics. Mike there held my order last week B/C the shipments out of the Maldives were looking a bit sketchy due to the hot weather. More should be coming in though.

Who is Extreme Aquariums? Did I give you that name?

An online supplier who provided me the only healthy specimens I have encountered :>) I don't think Bryan brings them in much, if at all.

We are breeding them. Picked two wild ones at a store and had 6 weeks later first eggs - I wish all the other pairs we have would be that quick. Now they are spwaning every 10 days, harvested another batch two days ago.

Peter,
are you planning on selling the fry or is this just going to be a personal project? I'd love to see pics of them.

Nick

Maaaaan! I keep registering for their "e-mail me" list and they don't ever seem to contact me. Now I have an order out on credit for the ones I lost through another vendor.
I don't exactly want to buy now....

Beware of that site. I know a couple of people who bought juve. "Wide banded A. Latezonatus" clowns from them and they were sent black Polymnus instead and the company never issued any refunds or credits for the bait and switch.

I'm not real wild about their lack of a phone number....
I dont have any issues with the online orders only, but what if something goes bad....you're stuck waiting for an email? And their website says they receive hundreds of emails daily...
I'll pass on them for right now...

Nick

I have had good experiences with them regarding Atlantic species fish and inverts but they seem to start to go down hill when dealing with anything else.

Sorry for late reply - but job and 30 tanks needs its time

@Marina
currently survival rate is way more improvable, but as this fish does not really sell a lot over here I don't mind. 30-60 fish per batch. One problem is that the parents refuse a tile and we have to use a snagger, rest is due to water quality. But only two batches tried. Until now all are breeding sucess with the different clown fish are considered as study projects. But a full larvae / grow out system with 18 tanks is currently starting. Compared to percula larvae they are bigger bit more prone to bad water quality. Water changes of 50-80 % a day in tanks which are not in a bigger cycle seemed needed. Food: Rots (enriched) and INVE 430 brine. Later Oto A and B's follwoed by standard frozen food. The post meta fish are very shy,. group but do not take flower pots as hid outs. They prefer the darker corners of the tanks. They grow faster then percula.

@Nick,
I expected the picture question and took some at the day of my first post. They are still in the camera, waiting for me. Of course the plan is to sell them eventually.
