maybe the rotary fans make more evaporation, or maybe its the 4000+ gallons of water movement i have. the surface tension is unbelievable. not to mention i modified my plumbing and my predrilled siphon hole ended up just above the water line instead of just below :rolleye1: that extra splashing is adding some im sure.

....

Don't mean to hijack, but the same thing happened to me! I find that the extra splashing means more salt creep on the top of the tank :mad2: I think I'll have to do something about that soon.

Hey Tony:

Here is my latest full tank picture!

I think my MH are buring in now that they have been being used for 10 days, I think they are brighter now, I love the lighting in my tank now. And little things like feeding and cleaning the glass and everyhting is just soooo much easier with this new canopy with doors in the front. All corals and fish seem very happy too. But my Rose BTA is getting bigger now and stretching to my flower pot coral so no about 1/4 of the flower pot is being stung :( . I really liked how big the flower pot coral was getting.

I bet your tank looks fantastic, but that is too bad about the flower pot coral-- is that Goniopora? Are you going to have to move it somewhere else?

I finally got to see my tank in the afternoon with the MH on all day, I have been working everyday since I installed the MH. The temps with the two IceCaps is staying under 81, I am glad to see that. My temp range now is 80.2 to 80.9.

Sounds great, did everything adjust well to the lighting change, how about some recent picture, we love the full tank pictures.

Here is a pic of my 75g now after new lighting for a month.

I am thinking about upgrading the tank to a 180g in wall. But not for at least a year. I can eaily add a wall where the tank is now and have it closed in.

Your tank is absolutely beautiful. The growth of the montipora is amazing. We just got back into the reef hobby after about 5 years without. We were never able to have sps before but have the lighting to support it now. Is the montipora difficult?

Are you still using yor hang on the back refugium? We are like you and don't have room in the sump or base cabinet for one. LFS says they are not big enough to do any good. What are your thoughts after having it for a while?

90 Gal w/overflow into 30 gal sump
Skimmer in sump
2 - 96 watt power compacts
2 - 150 watt 10K mh

Thanks RJ
bleny90 the only difficult thing about the monti is, is now i have to frag it, it just grows and grows, and shades everything below it. I was using the hob refugium on my old sump, now my new sump is big enough to have a bult in refugium. I felt the hob worked well on my old sump. My chaeto grew well in the old one, it still isnt growing as well in the new one.

Thanks Tony -
From other posts it sounds like any refugium is better than none at all. It think we will try it. Certainly can't hurt.

Definately use it. Just be sure to clean the pump every so often. My pump would get calcified up inside and stop running, then the refugium would drain, and the chaeto would dry out . But my tank has a kalk and calium reactor, so I think that is why my pumps calcify up so fast, like every other month.
