a polite suggestion

First guys, the swap was great. tons of corals to pick from and it was nice to run into old friends

My suggestion is said will all due respect to the amount of time and effort that goes into one of these is to find a bigger venue.

I am not complaining but want to point this out . I am sure I am not the only person who had a hard time getting around yesterday. I had an arm in a cast for the last nine weeks and got it out a week ago. Still very sore and all so needless to say I knew it every time I got bumped into. Not anyone's fault etc

but if we could find a bigger place to spread out the tables and widen the aisles a bit I am sure more folks who have physical challenges could have an easier time enjoying this great event too.

Thank goodness my issues are only very short term but some people's are not.

I hope I do not sound whiney or disresectful but I really believe that more space would help everyone out.
I don't spend too much time in the Cleveland area to have knowledge of a place to suggest , but feel that even 20-30% more space would make a big difference

You ain't Kidding!
I had so many people pushing on me to see the Frags, I almost asked this Girl if she wanted to jump up on
my shoulders, LOL!!!

I showed up last year with my Baby in a Stroller! You wanna talk about Room?
Try pushing that around thru that Crowd!!!! Forget it!!!!!Couldn't get anywhere near the Tanks!

Hi,

I will volunteer my services to help select another site for next years Cleveland swap meet. Why don't we form a small 2-3 person team and pick a larger sight. I would suggest we get started ASAP. Let me know if you want me on the team, I know it's a lot of work for one or two people to organize this kind of event.

Dave, as you know I am not too close to town, but if I can help some how I will.
I am sure C-sea has the same sorts of issues that my club has such as everyone points out a problem but few are around to fix it.
I know I sound like that person too and being out of town makes it worse.

Dave, I will throw my name in the hat if you need any help working out details. If I am not traveling, I am working from home so I can make calls, etc.

What about the Cuyahoga County fair ground buildings? They have other events there. Why not us?

I have had a lot of experience with the fairgrounds as I used to be in charge of the reptile shows there. They do not heat the buildings at night. Given the time of year it could be problematic as it typically took 3-4hours to warm up. Also, no vending or food services are provided so you would have to contract with someone.

Dave, I live here in Strongsville and retired from the police department. I use to know everyone at the Holiday Inn but it has been 15 years I may not know anyone now. I'll help all I can if you need anything. Wayne

I would think that some of the local hotels would have meeting rooms or something that you could use. Of course price could be an issue then.

We had a frag swap in Pittsburgh last year and had a great facility, the same hotel we had MACNA in. It was in one of their ball rooms. Too bad no one showed up :(

I would also humbly suggest that everyone be strongly encouraged to wear name tags. I would ballpark at less than 50% wore them and that made finding people difficult. Otherwise, it was fabulous as always!

I am in good physical health and was getting a little frustrated by not being able to move at many times(I hear you BrineyDave)......THAT SUCKS....

I had put in some requests for frags before the swap and I didn't find half of the users, I would like to suggest that they put up signs where they are sitting with their user names and such so that we don't have to ask around if anyone knows where so and so is located etc.! It was too crowded but it was a really cool experience I enjoyed saving money and getting more for my money than I would anywhere else, I think they should have frags swaps more often!

Let me toss in a suggestion... regardless of the venue, please don't go the route of forcing everyone to have food and making the entry fee cover it. I don't come to swaps to eat, I'll eat on the way home with my swap money.

Seriously, the difference between $5 to get in and $20 to get in is quite significant to many people. I'd hate to see the best swap in the area ruined by good intentions.

S !

I agree with that, we only went because it was only $10 to get in as this was the first time we attended and didn't know what it would be like, I would rather have it crowded and the electric go out and pay 5 to get in so I can spend more on frags then to have to pay more at the door and have more room to look around and not have as much to take home because it cost $30 or $40 to get in

I believe there has to be a place that would be big enough to allow the event to grow and still be cheap enough to allow for a reasonable cover charge.

As for food, I never have any cash left to eat with when I leave LOL
