This little white tiger goby {Priolepis Nocturna} Is a very cryptic fish that spends all of it's time upside down under ledges. Darting out only during feeding. Tonight for the first time, he decided to go for a swim. :)

What a neat little fellow! Maybe now that he's feeling safe enough to come out, he'll get more forward. Gobies tend to do that...case the joint for a long time before they take over.

I hope you are right Sk8r! I removed several fish from this tank a few months ago to destress my tomini tang. That might have something to do with it. Thanks again...I was just so happy to see him for more than a fleeting second.:D

Nice fish. I have been hoping to run across one locally with no luck. I may break down and order a couple online.

This maks me feel better. I've had one for a couple weeks now. The first day he was out all over the place. Since then I've had one glimpse of him with lights off and haven't seen him since. Was worried i had lost him.

happily surprised --cool colors and finnage, looks like one part mandarin, one part tiger, one part bulldog

i may have to try one out

These guys are sweet!!! They do spend much of their time swimming or hanging out upside down in the rock work. Once they get used to their new setting you should see him more.

So upon researching for prices and pics I see this is the WHITE tiger goby and NOT a tiger watchman ...goodthing you added the latin name. yeah I like the way this one looks --short and powerful rather than skinny and lean --is this full grown?

Beautiful Carole!

Two and a half years ago I posted this thread about my Priolepis nocturna. I wrote up this about him in my Reefkeeping Article ...

"White tiger goby (Priolepis nocturna) - This striking and very rare goby is, without a doubt, the most secretive fish I have ever known. I added him to the tank and thought he was dead after not seeing him for weeks, until I found him hiding in the rockwork perched upside down. He is occasionally seen as a "white flash" for a split second when feeding, but that's about it. Usually, with a flashlight I can find him now, as I know his usual perches. It's a good thing I took photos of him when he was first purchased, for now it's nearly impossible. His body and fins are a bright white that reminds me of that seen on clownfish."

There's reason the photo from the article shows him in the bag :D After the move he went into my 180 and everytime I thought he was dead I'd see him...

LOL..I told you John, you are responsible for alot of the fish that interest me. I believe your photo was one of the first I had seen of them. I saved it, and a couple by Manuella Kruppas. When I went to the wholesaler's one day..there he was in a little cubby by himself..I had to have him! I put him in my nano...that was a mistake, he barely moved! So I put him in the 75, and he is really started to come out now after a year. Last night he did the same! Guess what I got from Serdar yesterday?:D A male Bellus that is absolutely gorgeous! My female was pleasantly pleased I think, she started following him around right away. Watch for a thread with pics, I'll work on some over the next few days or so. I also got a tiny piece of blueberry gorgonian... Thanks everyone!
