wow, your tank is looking truly world class!!
Thank you very much. Glad you like.
such an awesome tank!!! :rollface:may i ask what types of anthias you have?
Thanks. They are Bartlett Anthias from Hawaii.
Hi,
your aquarium is fantastic, definitly an inspiration for me!
Voted already, good luck.
Thanks Ricardo... my inspiration came from many great tanks here on RC.
v1...rotate, Since I see you have both which do you prefer, the Vortech or the Tunze and why? Are the Tunze you have controllable? I like that the Vortech has a smaller in tank footprint but does it outperform the Tunze? Which pump is more quiet?
Hey Ricky, both have pros and cons which I'm sure you know about. For me the Tunzes are better at the moment simply because I have them programmed (controllable) through the Profilux giving me more options and I can't spend +$800USD on x2 MP40W's wireless at the moment. The only Vortech I have is a MP20 and its sole purpose is to create that little extra flow on the island so I can't really comment on whether ones better than the other. But... I do prefer the Vortech smaller footprint!
As for noise, my tunzes (x2 6105's & x1 6055) operate in a range from 5-95% and they are quieter than the Vortech MP20 which operates nearly 100%. I would presume the MP40W would be slightly louder than the MP20.
The other thing is that I'm running out of room to store the Vortech wireless units and more power plugs.
Yo Andrew the sand bed looks dirty to me, hard to tell the difference.
Coral colour is at it's best however.
The two things I'm looking forward today is your weekend update and Longhorn football to start. I'm half way there!
I agree with the sandbed Clint. Waiting for next week when I pick up my Zeo goodies in LA. I will see how the ZZ and PCS combo work before I consider doing anything else. Bob and Alexander have tried to deter me from adding some more sand as a top up layer.
Well the footy season has finished this season for my team so I guess that means some spare afternoons. I'll see what I can do regarding pics and videos :spin1:
I use a simple gravel siphon and clean the substrate when I'm doing weekly water changes.. Up until a few weeks ago, I always noticed that my colors seemed to dull whenever I did this and would take a few weeks to recover, but I was only doing monthly WCs at the time. I always thought it was that I was messing with the sand however, now with weekly 5 to 10% changes, I'm getting a much better response from the corals... It's now my belief that I was probably changing too much water in one shot.
I agree, in your latest pics... the corals look stunning! I try to change around 10% every 7-10 days depending on the roster.
What an amazing build. And so wonderfully illustrated! You have my vote for TOTM.
I miss HKG, lived there for 27 years.
Thanks!! I enjoy bringing updates and sharing the experiences. 27 years huh? Would have seen a lot of change! I should be in the UAE (Dubai & Abu Dhabi) at the moment on holidays but we changed our plans last minute. Stayed at the Atlantis last time... amazing aquariums and got to go behind the scenes
This would feed my tank for a life time :eek2:
Cheers
Stunning...... Lost for words and thanks for sharing such a lovely piece of reef.
Your welcome! Thanks
