A Reef in the Sky

Very nice my Zeofriend ;) very nice!

But I think you know, that i love your tank ;)

keep up the good work!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you Dennis. Will do!!

Fantastic video. The music and slow camera movement fit very well together.

Beautiful tank.

Cheers Scott.. I also enjoy making the videos so I'm glad you like them.

amazing tank!!!! i might go to hong kong by the end of the month and will be staying at tsim sha tsui & just want to know if they sell aquarium stuff like ballast etc. in goldfish market and do they also sell corals there. thanks
Thanks, yes they do. Let me know if you need any particular ballast and I can find out which shop is best. From TST it's about a 5-10min train ride to the Fish street. Get off at Prince Edward station and take exit B2 :D

Andrew. It will be great to meet you in person.
Just shoot me a PM when you know exact date.
Look forward to seeing you.
Will do.

The part where you took the view from above water to below surface to that beautiful green w/blue tip acro took my breath away! Beautiful tank and video!

By the way... what is the name of said acro :D
Thank you. I really like that part too. Not sure what that coral is. Someone asked earlier on in the thread but still no answer. When I bought the coral it didn't have blue tips.

awesome man just awesome
Cheers

quite spectacular...looks like the zeo is working out great for you. makes me want to give it a try
Thanks Tran. Very happy with it so far.

Lookin' awesome as always Andrew!

I might be biased (I love clams), but I think you need to get some more clams... the ones you have seem to be doing nicely!

Thanks... Will do, I really like them too. Any ideas where I should put a couple more. I want to try to keep the space in the middle free but I also know that is where the strongest light intensity is.

tank came out great looking. the background really adds alot to the look.
Thank you. I'm hoping it will look more impressive once the corals become larger.

Hi Andrew, awesome video.

Sammy
Cheers Sammy!

Just back from a trip. Last week I noticed that there where some small bubbles escaping from the skimmer but couldn't determine exactly. The skimmer was looking pretty (dirty) so I decided to clean the skimmer pump and body yesterday. I also took the opportunity to remove some of the muck sitting in the skimmer section.

Around 2 months ago I noticed many tiny snails in the display tank and sump so obviously some snails like each other. I will have to remove some soon.

This was what I found inside the skimmer pump. This guy must be dizzy :eek1:

Another great Job on the video Andrew.. Aside from your tank coming along beautifully, you really have some skill with your camera.. I'm in the process of making some modifications to my tank and hope to be able to share some new pictures and video with you soon. Awesome work!!

I agree... the clams can't take up the middle "valley" so that you can keep aquascaping clean looking... I would probably put another pair or trio on the right side of the tank almost mirroring what you've got on the left side. And since you've already got what looks to be a purple and blue one, you can look for a nice green maxima and maybe an ultra colored crocea (these usually have about 3 or 4 different colors ranging from teal, tan, purple, black). I've got one of these types of croceas, and it definitely adds a different look to the tank (of course right now it is only a couple of inches, so I can't wait until it gets larger and shows off the colors even more). Some might suggest a nicely patterned squamosa, but they can get a bit larger than the croceas and maximas and get larger FASTER, which might mess with the "clean look" of your tank.

Looking great! Let me know the next time you fly into SoCal... I'll have to show you around some of the nice LFS around here.

Hey...look'n good. Keep the snails!!! My tank will be up soon :D Need your help Tuesday! :bounce2:
Will do!!

im interested in the Lumatek Electronic Dimmable Multi Wattage Ballast 150w/175w/250w. thanks a lot
PM sent

Thanks Jonathan. I'm very happy I decided to get the SLR as it gives me so many options. Looking forward to the update.

Great, another few clams on the right side it is :D
Regarding the 'valley', I currently have one SPS coral in the middle which I just mounted on a piece of rock. It actually looks alright there but I'll probably move it to the side somewhere.

I'll be in LA again early Sept but it will be a Tues/Wed so if your free that would be great!

Update

The time had come to change the light bulbs as they had been running for around 5 months. Although, a little earlier... I wanted to try some other bulbs. Thanks to the Shaggss for the help.

Before: Front to Back

Now: Front to Back

KZ Coral Light Super Blue
KZ Coral Light Fiji Purple

KZ Coral Light New Generation

The bulbs are burning in at the moment so the dimming function has been disabled. I have already noticed a difference in the blue and purple corals I have.

Pictures

For the hawk eyed amongst you, I have moved some corals again but this should be the last as I'm happy with the appearance and most corals appear happy.

This coral has taken around 2 months to colour up nicely

I've been following this thread from the beginning. What a result! An awesome looking tank with superb looking corals that exhibit beautiful colours.

Your tank and alongside Sunnys tank are two of my fav on RC. So much so that I am modelling my next tank along similar features (but smaller scale).

Your tank is truly inspirational. Beautifully executed! :)

I've heard great things about the new KZ bulbs. Curious to hear your thoughts on them once they've had a chance to burn in. Well done.

Just caught up on this build. Super clean. I am so jealous of the coral selection you folks have overseas. Can't wait to watch this grow.

HI Andrew,
great setup, nice tank. I am wondering do you have some problems with sand? I think it is a little bit dirty, or I am wrong? How do you find your starfish, is it good for removing sand?
