A Reef in the Sky

Again, congratulations!! Most inspiring!

Judging light by pictures is very hard but I have to say that under T5 the pictures looks better. I don't really enjoy much the "disco floor" looks of less, but again, it maybe only on the pictures.

If your tanks is like this on auto-pilot, them my friend, you've made it!!! Just sit back and enjoy the ride ( or the flight :))

All the best Andrew

Your pieces have finally grown into show piece size. Nice!It only took four years but what happened to all those other pieces you had at the beginning the tank did you sell them did they die or did you just get rid of them

LOL. I don't have US$50K+ to spend. If you can lend me the money then maybe I could as well.

or maybe you wouldn't.

Pretty poor taste to bash someone's tank on their own thread or to intimate that it is simply due to $$$ being spent.

The tank is a testament to great husbandry, good equipment selection, and great aquascaping skills. It's a gorgeous tank and I really don't get why you or anyone would feel the need to criticize or diminish the tank. :thumbdown

BTW, not sure why putting a large angel in a moderate sized tank would make it truly "special" :crazy1:

Not too sure why the amount of money invested is mentioned so often as it has little to do with the success of a reef system, i've seen plenty of reefs with a fortune spent on equipment that look pretty ordinary and i'm sure most here that have the slightest clue about designing and keeping a successful SPS reef are well aware that a stunning display like this one is all down to the reefer's skills - not his wallet.
Beautiful colors and i love the main two opposing growth styles, tables versus the stags - great display of the two competing for light in their own way, stags going up and the tables growing outwards....

Is the the circled stag branch going to be encircled by the table as it looks very cool now and would look great when fully surrounded. Love the yellow stag you stuck to the top of the big red table, i thought i was the only one sticking corals on top of other corals lol.

Aquascape, design, colors....... it's all awesome and can only get better

I like the T5's. looks better & seems to have a better spread of light.......Then again my opinion is Bias because I'm a T5 guy :)
Looks great either way
Thank you afernandez... I'd like to try the T5 & LED combo.

Andrew. Tank is super clean and healthy.
Is it you or your wife to get this credit?
Thanks Ching!! Of course the wife!!
See you at the end of the month!

Tank is looking awesome! It'll be interesting to see if you go back to the LEDs. I personally love the look of the t5s in the pics above. The last pic is stunning!
Thank you very much for the kind words. I'll stay with these until I get the hanging unit sorted out.

Absolutely gorgeous.
Such inspiration is rare to come by. Thanks for the update Andrew.
Looking clean like a new setup...that's just dedicated care and husbandry.
I always learn from you.
Thanks Noob!!

Beautiful as always Andrew. You know something, I prefer your tank with the T5's.
Thanks sahin. Maybe T5's and LED in the future. Who knows?

Just out of curiosity, how much $ did you spend on this tank?
Just out of curiosity... why do you need to know?

this look amazing
Thank you

Very nice as always!
Thank you

Nice tank but the for the amount he spent on the equipment he should include a McCulloch Clown and Clarion Angel to make it truly special.
Maybe you can buy them for me

I think it is truly special already!. If you have something to match it, let's see it?!..

Mo
LOL!

Thank you Walter for the kind words.

I do agree with you regarding the auto pilot. It's amazing how well the tank grows when you stop fiddling with it.

Where does it say anywhere that I have spent US$50K?

Thanks bugger. Most of my corals didn't survive the move nearly 2 years ago so what you see is mainly growth from the last 2 years.
I would like to have more variety of corals but I am running out of room. I'd also like to watch how the present corals interact with each other.

Beautiful tank, such natural growth
Thank you Bello. I've been following your tank build too! Impressive!

Thanks Roni... I often laugh at comments like that one above as it's typical of those who are impatient and want results instantly.

sorry andrew but I prefer your ati look than the leds. Anyway anything happened to the lpses?
Thank you Ancelot.
LPS's... All of them are still there from memory.

What a D.B.
Agreed

Thanks guys

Wow, excellent tank! Must have cost a fortune. I wish I had the money for this!!!
Thanks

Thank you Biggles for the kind words. I do agree with your comments that having nice equipment doesn't guarantee success.

I am enjoying watching the corals grow and as your pointed out, the pink table is encroaching on the yellow/green stag. I was running out of room so had to place the yellow/green stag where I did. lol

Sorry for the delay

Amazing tank! Love that you are so willing to share your experiences with everyone. Keeps the inspiration and creativity flowing.
Thank you very much!
Like to check. Where your chiller connected to?

Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
The chiller is fed from the return section in the sump.

The best work I ever seen.
A tank so well designed and organized could do nothing but succeed!!!
Trully a masterpiece!!!
You really deserve the satisfaction of just watching it thrive!!!
Thank you very much

Such an amazing tank!!
Thank you

Can you post some more photos? Are the eco-lamps still doing a good job with your corals coloration?
Thanks
Sure will Todd. Yes the Eco-lamps were doing a great job. The only reason I took them down as they were sitting on the tank rim which I didn't really like after some time. I'm looking to hopefully get a hanging kit in the future. In the mean time, the ATI Power module will stay up.

Hi there,

Where did you find this motor?

Hi Armando, see the link shaggss provided above. Cheers

Thanks shaggss

Love your tank Andrew? just a question; why haven't you purchased some large colonies? In HK these are easy to obtain. Just wondering?
