A Reef Tank in the Desert - +/- 1,400 gallon system

Congrats Dan! I'm glad to see the sohals well in your display and wow those front tank shots are great! That is the mother of all elegance corals lol. Best wishes and continue the great work you do with your aquarium!

Erwin thanks!

I believe that the elegance now has 16 different heads. It is pretty awesome! I don't feed it directly, it just gets bits of mysis and brine when I feed the tank. I am scared to feed it directly as I don't want it to get much bigger!!!!

Dan, thanks for having me today, your tank is an absolute dream. The Regal is settling in nice. You guys just don't know until you see that elegance, it's huge.

Dave,
How was the big Frag Swap that you held???

Frag swap was this afternoon. We got lucky and the weather was mild (low 80's). We had close to 100 people show up, and everyone had little (and some big) coolers loaded with stuff.

Last people didn't leave till 11. And they did a great job of cleaning up the yard.

You'll have to bring an Az contingent to the next one !!!

Congrats on the Sohals and the patience you had with them. I am glad to hear things are going well.

I love the full tank shots and would love to see more along with an updated video with several minutes of just a full tank shot so we can see the fish swimming around and enjoying themselves in your massive tank.

this tank is massive I have never seen anything quite like it. seems like you are getting great growth from those lights! doing a build right now definitely considering these!

Nothing special, a couple more iPhone pics of the tank as the lights have started to dim...

Dan your tank is looking great. We'll have a lot to talk about in Miami.

I believe FEDEX Friday has turned into Sohal Friday. Its nice to see you have succeeded in getting both Sohals all the way to the display tank and I'll be the first to admit it ..... They are my favorite tang, I'm jealous :-)

Congrats
Joe

Great news!

Joe, Loukas - Thanks guys! I have been having fun watching them get acquainted with their tank mates. So far, no drama. I expected them to be the aggressive ones. So far, it's one of my Purple Tangs, one of my Powder Blues and my massive Lopezi Tang.

Dan, I know Im a pain but we're gonna need an updated fish list.

Brett:

I will try to work on an updated fish list soon.

It was great having you over! Anytime that you want me to quarantine something else for you, just let me know. It's one part of the hobby that I truly enjoy and since your Regal and the two large Blonde Naso Tangs are gone, I have plenty of room!

the depth of that tank is amazing. I know what a pain it must be to get to the bottom of it, but I think it would be worth it to able have that room to aquascape with and for the fish to enjoy it.

Macna 2013

Macna 2013

So I booked my hotel and flights to Florida for MACNA 2013!

I will be coming in on Thursday evening and staying until Sunday.

I will be staying at the Westin Diplomat Hotel & Spa. I am hoping my secretary booked me a suite; I would love to have everyone over for cocktails. If not, I am sure the hotel has at least one bar!

If you are planning on attending, please let me know. Also, PM me your cell number and when you will be there so we can make arrangements to meet!

I have a small thread going on who is attending MACNA here.http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2310702
I would love to meet everybody as well.

I read this whole thread through starting yesterday and I am now finally caught up... but now I'm sad I'll have to follow along in real time! Your tank is inspiring and amazing. I LOVE how deep it is... exactly what I want in a few years when my wife and I buy a house!

Thanks for sharing your journey with us... I wish you great luck for the future!

Thanks Pal!

Everything in the tank is doing great! Everyone with the cameras has been out of town. Sam stayed in Chicago for school. I need to get Griffin or Justin over here with a camera. I also need the shots the magazine photographer shot!

The depth is not bad to service. I have got my long aqua sticks, vacuum... If I ever win the Lotto, I am going bigger and deeper!
