A Reefaholic's 1000+ Gallon Mixed Reef System Build

Tank looks great! Male/2 female trio of a Genicanthus angel would be cool. Goldflake angels are sweet as well. Can never go wrong with a harem of anthias in a large aquarium either!

I wish I had aquascaping skills. Very nice

Having dry rock to work with makes things much simpler! Gives you the luxury of time to make sure you plan it out, and the key there is plan! Something many overlook too is the fact that when you fill it with water it'll look much more steep so when it's not filled, just realize that it'll look much different once filled.

Here's more details on how I aquascaped and some great references from Paul.

Did a complete inventory of my fish today. Here's what I've got, just been poking around for fish past few days and looking at some of the recommendations. I REALLY want that regal but not willing to sacrifice my large acan:(

Nice fish list. I'm still awaiting a couple of my favorites like the golden midas blenny, orange shoulder, powder blue, and Achilles.

That's the current list. Chugging through a list now to group into 2-3 orders for the rest of the year. First two orders will be larger fish then third round target anthias and chromis to get some groups.

Going to do similar fish at the same time? i.e. all tangs?

Yes, if they have similar body shapes so no one quickly becomes the bully.

Until the get up on the wrong side of the bed one day haha

Our Black and Yellow Tangs lived together for 2 years, then one day it was total war... ended up easing up after a day though.

But yeah, good plan :)

I have a love/hate relationship with fish. Love them when they get along but they can get moody, then decide to kill each other. Mother Nature?!?

Promised a couple shots, trying to start to take some better pictures.

Orange Crush acan (150-200 heads)

And I've been going through things...This is my next order. Share your thoughts:)

Peppermint shrimp are to keep the aiptasia in check. The larger shrimp should be safe but will the trigger eat the peppermint?

My blue throats never touched my inverts.

I've never had them but seems if you keep them well fed they'll keep away from them! I've never kept any triggers and that's the two I'm most excited about! On my next round going to take Steve's recommendation on the lavender tang and about a total of a dozen tangs. Need to contact Larry for cases of LRS as these fish ramp up:)
