A Reefaholic's 1000+ Gallon Mixed Reef System Build

It's that time of the year.....$1 a gallon sale at Petco. I grabbed a couple 40Bs that I'll be making use of. Think one will serve as Mangrove garden on top tier of stand....Have not yet decided what I'll do with other...

maybe a low flow cryptic zone full of live rock? I have always wanted to do this as a natural way of helping out the filters.

It's possible, just would have to do some research on the topic as I've not read on them a lot....Have just seen them often. Too many topics in this hobby to know em all!

How do you plan to incorporate the mangrove system to your tank?

Not something I've put a lot of thought into but considered putting on the top tier of my stand, then just drilling a hole and putting overflow into sump. I'd then just branch a leg off my manifold and send it up to the tank so not a lot of thought has went into it yet:) They'd be out of the way being on the top tier of stand but not something I'd need access to often.

How is the basement remodel going? Any progress

Been out of town past few days so have not had a chance to work any on the basement. Glad to say that frag tank/fish were good after a power outage:) Luckily seems our power did not go out very long from the storms that blew through Friday! I will post progress when I make it but has been very busy and I'll post when I can.

Yea, that was a nice storm. I got to drive through that on the way back from Premium Aquatics after picking up the kessil (as well as a couple other toys)

Sorry but I've been really busy with work and doing a bit of traveling. I have not touched basement lately and have had some delays on the steel. Just paid for steel this morning and it should be done by eow next week. Should have time to work on basement tomorrow and Sunday so will post a good update this weekend!

...Finally some progress

...Finally some progress

After a couple weeks of being busy and just not having a lot of time/motivation to work on the tank had some time today to work on the basement for a while in preparation for the tank move. I picked up all the supplies, electrical re-routed, studs cut out, framed in for dry wall, and started adding the drywall. Shooting to have it mudded and drywalled this week so we can start painting the basement soon:spin3:

Steel Has Arrived

Steel Has Arrived

Another week of little updates....I got some more work done on the basement and picked up the steel for the stand this afternoon! My brother is going to come over in next couple of weeks with welding tools to get it done and hopefully can get powdercoating setup afterwards. Once it's in place I won't be able to not stand getting the rockwork laid out and working through the plumbing:spin3: Patience...It'll be here before I know it but want to make sure I make the right decisions!

Steel tube reinforcement and gusset plates.

Wow, I totally missed the updates to your thread last week. Your moving along, I totally expect your call for arms on the indmas board really soon :)

Yeah, I've been making a little progress day by day. I just finished mudding the first coat so should have the drywall/mud finished in the next few days. I need to get my stand welded and painted because I don't want to cap off the stairs and trim it out until I have the tank in room as I have a feeling I'll get quite a few nicks and gouges from moving the beast! INDMAS help will definitely be needed soon!;)
