A Splash of Color - My SPS Peninsula Reef

Since Wrangy and i cleaned up at Deer Park aquarium today i've decided we are now Acroman and Stylo Boy. It goes without saying that Wrangy is Stylo Boy.

' Quick Stylo Boy, to the acro ute.....'

As if i'd stuff the peninsula with acros................. :)

Hey guys, today I learned something very interesting. Did you know that Acrophobia is not a fear of expensive sticks, but it is in fact a fear of heights!!!! I think sticks are more terrifying than than a bit of air between some dirt and the dirt below:confused:

Amazing corals as usual Andrew mate (I got so used to caling you Biggles...it almost feels weird to call you Andrew...).

That one with the with blue polyps just looks sweet. Please dont eat it though :p I know you ate a chunck of the green acro...

Bigg...Andrew, I hope you realise that you have to post a photo of an SPS every DAY (cant post photo of same coral every day, so dont try get round the rule by doing that). That's the rule when you have a new large peninsula tank that can be stuffed with 100's of SPS...

Lol me too, was your name on your sig all this time or did you just add it. Where you been bud haven't seen you post in a while. Your tank is looking great haven't seen a new video from you in a while either.

Your a lucky guy. But I warn you, Biggles is nuts:spin2::lolspin::lmao:
haha well I'm a little nuts as well so it works out well! :lmao: it was good to meet the man behind the tank finally!!

Was great to meet you today mate - obviously i got there before Wrangy and grabbed five acros because i have no morals whatsoever when i get a sniff of a fresh shipment....... :p
It was definitely really good to meet you today! Dave said he'd send you all those feminus wrasse once the bank approves my loan to buy them for you :p haha
Lucky he'd left a couple of bits that I snatched up but the deal was sweetened by the amazing little styro box that came out of the acro ute!

Cleaned up we sure did, there was nothing left when I got there :lolspin: let alone after we left!
bahahaha I love it!!
Well the kind delivery that Stylo Boy recieved has settled in and is looking amazing, I'll get some terrible pics of what the lovely Acroman pulled out of the Acro Ute later

Biggles if you can take pics of your sump"¦.:o.
:ekk1::worried:

Wrangy, I think all of us reefers are nuts as there's no way a sane person would spend so much on such a 'silly' hobby:p. I had someone come into the shop the other day and the conversation went something like this.
Shopper. "$15 for an anglefish!!!! (freshwater)"
Me. "Yes that's correct"
Shopper. "That's madness, why would anyone pay that much for a stupid fish?"
Me. "Because some people love the hobby and know that's how much those fish cost and they don't mind paying that for them"
Shopper. ".......wow really....their nuts then"
Me. "Well I'm one of those people and I don't just have a tropical tank, I have a reef tank as well. Most things cost 2-3 times more than freshwater too"
Shopper. Walks out stunned.

I have two mesh bags in the baffles where the flow is very brisk. A Tunze 6025 keeps the water surface bubbling, useful for gas exchange and ensures the live rock is receiving moderate flow all around. That's two days skimmate - 300ml.
I'll get some better close ups so you can see all the bits and pieces but i wanted you to see the whole thing as well. I cut a baffle out and reused the 65 gal sump

Lol i only added it a few days back Dan. I will do a video over the weekend for you mate :)

There were five 3-4" feminus wrasse in a tank - just disgustingly beautifully awesomely pretty. Despite repeated requests Stylo Boy refused to buy me one for $300- so i suggested a bulk price offer for all five and he still wouldn't be in it......... bloody Stylo Boy is why Acroman doesn't have a feminus wrasse in his acro cave.......:hammer:

You should have grabbed that angelfish by the tail and slapped the customer with it...... i'm sure the angelfish would also enjoy getting some payback on the idiot calling him stupid.

Night pic of a golf ball sized acro colony i bought specifically for a high light/flow spot on the arch rock i'm working on.

Thanks mate, very interesting sump: are your LR in a cryptic zone and how many kilos are they? Can you please explain how the sump works section by section?

Glad you mentioned the 2 day skim amount, looks like I'm skimming a little light but the darn thing is very hard to dial in, one wrong move and it overflows. :(

Love the new acro, I bet that turns into something astounding!

I'll take better pics tomorrow and explain how it is set up in detail for you mate. Basically the water comes in at the skimmer intake and then through the baffle, across the live rock and into the return pump bottom right in the pic.

I have to dial my way back prior to heavy putty/glue sessions or it goes sudsomatic on me lol. I'll take a little video of mine working tomorrow. I open the air intake valve fully and dial the skimmer in at that setting. I tried it 3/4 open ant the skimmer was twitchy just as yours is. Maybe try what worked for me and give it more air if you can along with adjusting the water height accordingly - can't hurt Mark.

I think that acro is going to be a little stunner too :)

Thanks Mike, well i picked a few up looking for inspiration the other day and when i looked up the display was cloudy with muck. I have no idea where it came from............. :p

One the subject of rock (not music:lol: ). What type of rock did you use in your tank(s) Andrew?

Always use fresh good quality porous rock Rory. There's about 10 kilos in the sump btw.

One of my new fish sleeping at night. Another one is in the sump so it must have taken the down pipe express ride lol. 3 x Randall's Anthias :)

So did you just get it from the lfs?

Yes but i hand pick pieces over a few weeks or months when i start a tank. I never set up a complete rock scape but add rock as i go.

Andrew, I thought you bought a clam. Went back through the thread but couldn't find the post. So, if you did buy a clam, how is it doing?

Marty

I'm sure i mentioned the little 2" blue clam a while back when i got him Marty. He's very happy and doing well, never had problems keeping a clam so far.

This is why you shouldn't trust someone else's word that the breakers have ALL been switched....... #^$%#$ $60- sparky pliers ruined as well ! :mad2:
