Andrew, are you Acros darker than usual or is it just the pics?
When I took the Triton sample from the tank I was dosing Component 1+2+3+, Coral E, Coral V, and ProBioS all as directed on the bottles. As well as AcroPower Amino Acids.
Quite a few acros are a bit poopy from the large and sudden phos drop i caused with the lanthium chloride solution Dave made up for me. Two acros RTN'd as sson as the lights came on the day after the second dose and that was only two weeks ago or so. That's why i pulled the carbon and phos minus, the glass went from every day to spotless for 4 straight days after that 48 hour period.
It's a bit weird but the glass now stays almost clean for two days straight with lots of food and nothing but the skimmer and matrix in the sump. It's like i rebooted the whole nutrient cycle that my system was running under and perhaps the bacteria have got the upper hand on the algae now. No idea but i am watching the tank for signs of too little phos and nitrates now which is quite the novelty for me.
I dosed triple the amount Dave told me to but at the end of the day it was entirely Dave's fault because of the words he used and the way he smiled when he handed me the little bottle of solution.
Since i'm only using the 123 your results give me a lot of confidence that using just the balling solutions alone will not give me any buildup of unwanted heavy metals.
Andrew,
How the anthias goes on your tank?
I tried squamipinis once....3 of them...but they last just a year or 2.
Regards.
Alex
Hey Alex, i started with five about 18 months ago i think and now have two. I have decided that lyretails are not as easy to keep as i thought they were mate. :hammer:
Whelp, this is all your fault for teaching me how to read brown aussie acro's Andrew!
Seriously Andrew, I would have never known what a little gem this Acro would turn out to be if it wasn't for your insight
That's an intensely pigmented little bugger Tim, scrummy colors indeed. I'm glad you're having better luck with the wild pieces now mate
With the new AF dosing - Andrew, have you seen increase in alk and cal uptake?
I know when I mixed my own DIY trace elements, I am getting 9 to 10% increase monthly.
Obviously I can't tell you the ratio of dosing because it is top secret material. :reading:
I will post some photos on my old thread shortly.
Haven't seen any increase mate but things haven't been 100% stable lately so i might watch and wait for another couple of weeks. Hopefully i won't do anything stupid between now and then....:fun5:
Did you ever get us some pictures or figure out what type of snails you have?

Look forward to it Dom.
Sorry, missed a couple of posts.
I really admire the way you build upon your reef! It looks stunning because of the great job you do matching up contrasting colors and textures.
I've never seen a shrimp jump for its life, oh well time to break out the BBQ. That is if you got to it in time.
System is looking great.
Thanks very much mate, i go to quite a bit of trouble to get things just the way i like them. The shrimp had dust on him so i think he was long gone :hammer:
Biggles,
I have a question for you. Do you run activated carbon at all? I'd also be interested to know why you do or do not use it.
I always have but i stopped a few weeks ago and so far nothing bad has happened. I have noticed the water isn't quite as crystal clear as it once was. I have no real opinion yet as to whether carbon helps anything when it comes to my own system but i won't run it now unless i see a reason to.
