Very interesting your analysis of colouration Andrew, but following this analysis ,I can not explain the amazing colouration of sustainable reef frags, growing under just sun light , at their shallow vats. Can you help me understand how their frags can have such intense pigmentation, growing under so high nm levels? If you also consider that the poly carbonates, they use to cover their vats ,filter probable , most of the sun light UV radiation, makes even harder to explain their frags amazing colouration...
Hey Greg, they dose heavy metals big time to aid with growth and colors and whilst their frags come in looking beautiful and colorful they usually double or triple in saturation within a week of hitting my tank. They also use LED's to supplement the sun i believe but i have no idea exactly where they have the frags growing in readiness for sale.
In short, the frags change from a pastel zeo look to the opposite in my tank so there's a very big difference between the two levels of pigment coverage than you might think.
Porn time......
The last pic didn't really demonstrate the differences in pigments between the frag and mother colony but this one does..............
Bottom left is Bulent's Bliss which is my favorite red with the frag left of it. Beside it is Sustainable Reef's Red Devil. Center far right is the original Firetruck i got from Dom ages ago.
In short, i am so confident that none of you can match the non rusty red pigment tone that Bulent's Bliss sports i will have a bet with you.
If anyone can beat the sheer clarity and all over pigment of that acro - Bulent will run naked past Buckingham Palace shouting ' my reds suck '.
I give you Bulent's word on that
