A Splash of Color

Good to hear the test acro is doing well! Stupid reef tanks anyway.

You can not belive how many times I ask to myself " what the hell were you thinking Daniel....." when I woke up in a hotel, like today, during my travels, and first thing I do is to check my tank parameters and dosing pumps using my Apex fusion software.

And of course, the classic evening phone call " Hi.... how is family....all OK at work today....and !!!! the tank looks OK ? Corals as always? No water in the floor ? , please remember to feed all the fish..."

One day my wife will file for divorce .... LOL.

Cheers
Daniel

My test acros are brown frags. Biggles gets radiant coloured colonies. Not fair. :fun2:

Sorry for your tribulations Andrew, I'm glad your test acro is doing well. I'm sure you'll be back at full swing in no time buddy.

This just reminds me of how sensitive wild acros are (or acros kept in a ridiculously stable system). I think a ORA Red Planet frag could survive a 3 minute dip in boiling acid. If a 7.x to 9.x alk change is a catastrophe, I'm in the wrong hobby.

Thanks for all the well wishes my friends. Shortly after my last post mom's heart went stupid again so i stayed with her until she was able to travel to Melbourne for the heart procedure i insisted be rushed forward.
She's been staying with me since her hospital stay and i took her home yesterday as she is missing her riveting social life (bingo, indoor lawn bowls & scrabble day). Mom lives in one of those retirement villages where everyone owns their homes and pay a monthly fee for all maintenance and emergency monitoring etc.

Before leaving her i asked her where was the emergency button thing she was supposed to have with her at all times in case she had a fall etc. Turns out she keeps it by the home phone as they try calling you before sending an ambulance so she thought keeping it by the phone was a good idea........
It's around her bloody neck on the necklace provided now. :hammer:

The tank is recovering slowly but it wasn't looked after well for a couple of days when mom fell ill again so i went through another little drama when some of the sicker looking acros suddenly RTN'd. Four different SSC colonies along with three other acros died in front of my eyes when i turned the lights on one happy morning to see them all shedding flesh.
I still have a couple of pieces i'm worried about, they just aren't recovering like everything else appears to be. The color is starting to return on most things but the PE on most is still poor compared to pre whatever i did to the water.

I would describe the colors as absolutely disgusting......... check out my white and pink acro center of the pic, the gross SSC stub beside it after i had to cut the 3" branches off that were RTN'ing. Top left is what my sole surviving intact piece of SSC looks like. The green spath is supposed to be peach colored.

Things will improve now that i can devote more time to keeping the water stable and just about everything is looking better than a week ago so the acros should be fine in a month or two and back on track fully. Watching a poo display color back up isn't the worst thing going ;)

The test acro is awesooooomeeee andrew:beer:
A new acro is always a good way to test things and bump a bit your love for the tank:)

Hey buddy don't be sad, colors are not that bad.I know you have big expectations from yourself and your tank but even so,you will make them colourful again in no time:)

Have you come to a conclusion regarding what caused it(or did i miss something in the previous pages)?

Give you mom many many get well wishes:thumbsup:
I'm sure now she is under your wing she'll get much better.

Thanks God your Mom is OK and I am very happy to read that your tank is recovering.

Men that test Acro is AMAZING. I also have some STN in my Aussi SSC after I upgraded the fuge. But superglue stopped it. Are all Aussie soooo delicate ? ..... LOL

Cheers
Daniel

Why do your "test acros" look better than everyone else's non test acros?

All jokes aside , glad everything is ok with your mom, family comes first.
Tank will come around !
