A Splash of Color

I just seen the pictures of your selection of low priced coral and threw up a lil bit. Then I got really angry. Then I calmed down and looked at the pictures again and the sequence started over. That is some amazing stuff. I think I need to plan a vacation to Oz just to see the lfs!
Good luck fish hunting.

:lolspin:

but Andrew if you buy fish i don´t want to ready any complaning about them swimming into your pics :lolspin:

good hunt mate

You know that's going to happen Flo...........

Thanks mate, i ended up buying four cooper's anthias and four more striped cardinals. I also grabbed two little silver fish with black striped tails that looked harmless.

All went into the display fine except one anthias which just sunk to the bottom and lay there. It ended up laying on the sand against the overflow wall which was bad enough but that is where BJ sleeps at night and he doesn't let other fish hang around that area for too long.

I stood there watching as he swam up, flared his fins and then grabbed the anthias sideways in his mouth and literally spat it against the wall...........

It just drifted back down to the sand, i started swearing loudly and Dom suggested that perhaps i should net it and place it in the frag tank.

It was last seen laying in the frags right way up panting heavily when the lights went out. I really hope she's not dead in the morning :(

Anyway, while we were at the shop i looked at Dom's new wrasse that cost a fortune (he has wrasse fever) and next thing i know he's ordering another bloody expensive one as he and Dave are talking in some weird fish scientific name lingo that sounded like gibberish to me. All i heard were the hundreds being casually mentioned......... he's quite insane when it comes to rare wrasse

All my fish today cost less than the one he ordered and that one was less than half the price of the one at the shop he already bought ! :crazy1::crazy1::crazy1:

Sooooooooo, you remember how i said i wouldn't ask Dave to hold me a stunning blue piece from Christian..........

I asked Dave's mom Deb who was looking after the shop while Dave and Mark did a tank install if any more cool blue stuff was coming from Christian in the shipment tonight.

' I think Dave has more coming tonight, i'll hold one for you Andrew '

Now, did i ask Deb to hold me one ? No i did not !

When Dave and Mark returned hours later - we were there for four hours, i mentioned that Deb was going to hold a nice little blue piece for me if there were enough in the shipment Chris sent.

' Do you want a branch or colony ? '

' Whadda ya mean Dave '

' Well i have about ten blue bits coming and some are little intact colonies and some are little broken off branches, how big and colony or not a colony ? '

' Ummmm, i'd love a little intact colony with it's base about tennis ball size Dave...... yeah....... if that's ok......... '

' I'll put a nice one aside for you '

About 8.30 tonight i got a text from Dave at the shop still after the Thursday night SPS session.

Your blue sir - 3" wide

I reckon Deer Park is about as close to SPS heaven as any of us will ever see............. like does this happen anywhere else because i'm starting to think Dave is the Willy Wonka of the SPS world...... :)

I grew up laughing at Gene Wilder's movies, a one of a kind comedic genius.

Oh, and Dom forced me into buying the little 2 x 2" branch top left that was still in the sale tank - any ideas what it might be ?

Hi Mate ,
Nice to see you picked up more of our little gems
By the way tank is looking very nice
Cherrs Christian,

I would like everyone to know that Andrew nearly bought a piece of very expensive flubber while we were at the store yesterday! He's growing soft in his old age :lolspin:

congrats on the blue one! sweet!
and the other one looks sick, but no clue on the name...

Cheers

Thanks Flo :)

Andrew, Stunning piece. I think Daves' mom is your best weapon against Dave. Not happy with Dom right now.

Marty

Thanks Marty, Deb and i made sure everything i was going to take home was paid for properly prior to Dave returning to the shop - i know it annoyed the crap out of him lol.

I did buy 2 tubes of super glue and a bottle of bacteria Dom and Dave suggested before leaving and handed over the actual price on the items and right after i handed him the notes i just said very firmly ' Just don't Dave ! ' :smokin:

He just quietly put the money in the till and closed it........... you have to be firm when you deal with mates that are too nice to you :)

Cherrs Christian,

Hey Christian, thanks mate. Your gems are the only gems that go in the display buddy

I asked Dave how your shipment that arrived last night went - 80 pieces went out the door in 20 hours............. your stuff doesn't tend to hang around for long. :p

Probably because Dave sent me a pic of what he termed 'some leftovers'

I can't believe you just splattered flubber pics all over my bloody journal ! :deadhorse1:

I may have 'considered' purchasing that purple and gold thing for $300- but i quickly regained my sanity Dom. You on the other hand, dropped a house mortgage on two fish - stinking wrasse to boot ! :blown:

give me a second i have to pick my jaw up from the floor... :spin2:

The '3 for' is behind the curl........

And don't abuse me, i'm just passing along Dave's porn........... porn collected by Christian......... they're basically the heads of a porn trafficking ring. :reading:

Sneaky Dave! I just happen to mention these might look good in a separate refugium tank. Bamn, Dave "suddenly" has them. Did Dave mention how much a separate refugium would help your tank? Marty thinks Dave has been reading your journey.

Marty

Ha ! that was pretty much what it looked like Flo :p

Dave now stocks live acro food ;)

As long as none of you spoke for the entire time i would consider hanging with some Americans in a bar. All you talk about is your lame footy where all the guys wear armored battle suits - what a joke !
The Qld state of origin rugby league team would put every fighter jet helmet wearing US player in hospital........ and that's before kick off.......

Rugby is tougher than football. Football is tougher than soccer. Soccer is NOT football.
I dont talk football in bar usually, I'm more of an MMA fan. But I'm really thinking that if we were all in a bar talking, it would likely be about fish nerd stuff (as the wife likes to call it).

Andrew,
I'm in awe of what you guys get on a regular basis....

You would no doubt be horrified at what we are forced to sift through here in the Midwest...

That "leftovers" bin would be the finest lfs display ever assembled here. And that is not a knock on our area lfs'. It just that that kind of talent never makes it this far.

Exactly....much more eloquent than what I was trying to say.

I am Matt's blue envy

You are indeed so right, Andrew is talking about the better variant of the game, league. You should watch it (especially a state of O game - intense!) unfortunately us Kiwis are not so good at this form of rugby. We constantly get swamped by those Aussie bastards! Rugby on the other hand, it's pretty much our national sport and only claim to fame other than sheep exports, a bird that can't fly and is on the verge of extinction because it gets hunted by rats and a fruit (that we actually bought off the Chinese).

Andrews down in melbs, so he's probably into a terrible sport that's a mix of soccer and basketball, short shorts and all, Aussie rules/AFL. Disgusting!

Thanks Flo :)

Andrew, just catching up... Wow, sweet acquisitions as per usual. I not only have acro envy but now sump envy. Looks all glass, that must have been a real craftsman that made it. Mine is a 100 g rubber made cattle watering tub from the good ole Tractor Supply store. My BSC is 120 display/70 water in the sump 1.7142857.[emoji851]
