Matt, you may also want to mention that in Canada there are no stubbies. Canadians can drink the whole 12 oz of beer.

:lolspin::lolspin: he snatched the one out of my hands with lightening reflexes hahaDom, it would be bloody un-Australian of you if you didn't slide ya danglies over the rim of Andrews coffee..
Hope you Aussies haven't gone all soft on us.

Did both you guys use the lowest water level in any chamber of your sumps to calculate what's in the sump ? Not the total volume your sumps hold if full........
Your BSC sounds dodgy Max since you said 75 gallon sump not 75 gallons IN the sump - if you're using a 75 gallon sump your numbers are wrong. I need a clarification before we'll accept your BSC Max :strange:
In Canada we use wood cloth pegs, less toxic than those toxic plastic coloured ones.
whats with all the LPS and zoos in this tank? I thought it was a SPS only tank
me too!
but i had that problem before...
i just noticed a difference when only using alu based GFO....
Cheers
Hey Andrew, too bad you have that Matrix in there already - I was going to suggest you build an egg crate box for each of those big Matrix sections (the ones supported by the PVC elbows) so you can easily remove it for cleaning, or even just shake it every once in awhile. You've given me some ideas where I might rearrange my Siporax to though. What's up with the colored pegs? That section is CLEARLY designed to have a tray to hold the filter media (though I see it would be noisy). I usually put my filter pad trays below the water line and squish the pad between two pieces of egg crate. Works well and is very quiet. I also put a lip/spout on the entry baffle so that the water pouring in goes into the middle of the filter pad. Nifty little trick. Your sump is still quite awesome - I'm very jealous of the space you have and the frag section (which you should add a raised eggcrate bottom to hold the frags too btw). I think you guys would all be shocked to see that my filter pad section is a mere 4x5" and in a week it doesn't even overflow the pad. I don't have much particulates in my tank even though I feed the living snot out of my tank.
Thing o'beauty!
I'm happy that the Abbot and Costello reefing duo got that sump in and running seamlessly.
Your tank and this thread just keep getting better and better, Andrew!
And btw, I've been calculating sump water volumes since before you were born!
... Or at least since you were an (obviously) extremely tiresome child.
In order to properly fill a bathtub with ice chilled Canadian beer, you must calculate the tub water displaced by the cans and bottles as well as the extra ice. It's no simple math. Sump volumes is a piece of cake.

Martin, in Canada a stubbie is a type of cigarette which will soon be legal.. If our Prime Minister has his way..
Can't wait. :smokin:
Stubbie bottles disappeared in the 70s
Under clarified BSC rules, my revised BSC is 2.18.
120 gallon display
75 gallon sump containing 55 gallons of water.
I remade the comp 1 after i posted that and left out the B strong 25ml that is supposed to be added to the calcium/mg mix. I made my own turbo charged biggle juice and substituted it as the metal component. No copper in anything i'm dosing now as i don't want it at any level above NSW levels if possible. I'll let you know what the potion is - if i haven't killed all mine and Dom's acros with it by the time the container runs out.......
The clam top right is not a normal clam, it is a mimic clam that actually preys on echi's........... let me know if you want that explained because it's the sort of weird stuff that happens at Deer Park aquarium......... Dom actually witnessed the whole thing as i wrestled with the clam in a life and death struggle to save my echi..........
What's a stubby? Where are the pictures of the sump installed already?
We're waiting patiently...
I would like everyone to know that Andrew is not as innocent and I'm not as bad as he'd like you all to believe :uzi:
This was the phone I woke up to this morning... MAN he's clingy :love2:
Not only that but he threatened to throw my acros into the washing machine if I didn't get coffee! Now he also knows I have no cup holders and drive manual so I had to drive and change gears with the SAME hand!
(I got my legs out for you lovely bunch so please enjoy haha)
I suppose after the being harassed, made to drive in dangerous conditions and forced into the slave labour, it was all worth to behold this lovely view!
Next time I'll be reading the fine print of the contract to joining the Dark Side :strooper: I didn't realise my mortal soul was part of it :lolspin:
haha great post buddy!
but what soul are you talking about? :lolspin:
looking great Andrew!
i didn´t even notice the not so clean glass ^^
Cheers
I have no idea how Canada somehow got dragged into this whole US joke beer thing Mike but i've seen ice road truckers on tv and they drive across your rivers...... what a joke !
I googled your race Mike.......... here's a tip for you and all your 'river racer' mates - if you can tap it with a shovel it ain't a river. It is in fact an embarrassing joke which pretty much sums up Canada's weather as a whole buddy - no offence
NOW !
Can we please try to keep the posts on topic - acros !
As you can from the nasty post Mike made, an innocent remark on my behalf was taken way out of context by Canada and suddenly I'M the bad guy somehow in this petty US/Canadian rivalry.........
Back to reefing
I'm now running with this combo of color enhancing dosing pegs that Dave is letting me trial at cost price. I thought $100- for the pack was a good deal and he said i can bring them in monthly and leave them with him overnight for a recharge that is only half the start up cost.
The sad bit is you could actually sell the peg dosing to the right bunch of goofball reefers. It would have to be somewhere really cold........ where everyone thinks slow because they're brains are frosted up.......... :reading:
