A take on BB methodology.

Im not saying all bb produce brown corals only that the corals i see when bomber posted had brown stags. But hey maybe they are from a different ocean> It seems inconcievable to want brown corals in your reef. But maybe there is something special about those corals..!!

Maybe you need to learn that other viewpoints are not only acceptable but completely valid.

Do you have an american flag bumper sticker on your sport utility?

Nathan ... not yet. Getting my website together at snails pace ... and I guess I've learned too much on the way.

When I started my tank, I didn't conceive it as thread-worthy. It's getting there :D

To each their own , I happen to think Bombers tank is very nice . It was one of the tanks that tried to copy .

Now for my favorite DSB tank . I hope you don't mind JBNY .

This tank is beautiful , I've seen it in person and this picture doesn't come close .

Even after seeing this tank , I still prefer BB . If I could get a DSB to look like this , it would be a different story .

Copy bombers tank? Damn jbny tank is one to try and copy.
I don't think it has so much to do with bb or dsb but more to do with husbandry and stability. I don't spend near as much time on my tank as you bb guys do. I empty my skiimer maybe once every couple weeks...

Yes, some people appreciate the architectural qualities created by his aquascaping and his corals, rather than be wowed by the purty colors

Did you come here to contribute or just to troll and brag about your tank?

If all I wanted was colors , I could have saved a ton of money by taking Mescaline and buying a lava lamp .:p

I did not come here to brag!! But it is funny that there are so many expert bb keepers with colorless corals!! that bash dsb tanks!!!!!
If you didn't want color why not keep fw?

What husbandry do you do to maintain stability?

How do you know what to do to your DSB and when? How do you know what to test for? and what do you test for?

How do you interpret those tests? and what do you do to your DSB to correct it if anything tests wrong?

How do you know what shape your DSB is in and whether you need to do something to it or not?

How do you know it's working correctly?

and how do you know it won't start giving you problems tomorrow?

If you can answer these questions to my satisfaction, I'll put a sand bed back in my tank tomorrow.

Actually it goes both ways , there is a fare share of BB bashers that can't even keep a tank from crashing .

Did you note my DSB pic of my tank . It had colors , nothing but brown turf algae was growing though .

So does my tank have enough colors for you or not ?

Gee it sure looks like that from here. With your three (incomplete) sentence replies and bragadoccio, you appear to be a savant or a troll. If the latter, please go back under your bridge while the adults talk.

I presume you're talking about Bomber. While Bomber's attitude can be somewhat ... curt (and you would be too if you caught the flak that he does), he brings a lot of important thought and strong reasoning to the table. Most of what he discusses vis-a-vis DSBs and Old Tank Syndrome are very valid, relevant to the hobby and pretty strongly rooted in fact.

Also, do you understand what a biotope is?

This statement gives me the feeling that not only do you not understand elementary design principles but also that you have little respect for the life of the animals in your care or the larger reef ecosystem as a whole. This hobby is bigger than you just having a pretty colored box in your home.

One of those ignorance is bliss things I suppose. I for one would pay a lot for a frag of that big golden stag he has.

Of course golden brown isn't a desirable colour (however natural and impressive it may be).
