A Whelk Invasion

I have an invasion of true whelks (identified by Pagajoe. Look like http://www.melevsreef.com/id/whats_a_whelk.html).

I got them when an online snail seller sent me nassarius snails. Only some weren't nassarius.

They breed very rapidly. I tried picking them out of my 180 but got tired of it and stopped. Now I have a veritable invasion of them. They don't seem to hurt anything but I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to get rid of them or how to keep the population down?

Hmmm....I will have to take a closer look at some of the snails that hitchhiked into my tank. From Marc's description, they appear to be whelks. They haven't reproduced in the 9 months I've known about them, but they have gotten pretty large. They also haven't harm any of the rock clams that are attached to my liverock.....

took me 6-8 months to get rid of every single one. Everynight, I spent 1hr after lights went out. to pluck them out, using a red light flashlight and some tongs.
