In Memoriam
I checked out ABC Reef's new liverock yesterday, they got a shipment in of uncured several days ago. Not sure on what type it is or maybe it is a combo of types/locations, but it didn't look like Bali to me. But these days it is hard to tell where it came from anymore unless it is Tonga which is non-existant for the most part. They had it soaking in one of their curing vats, it's some nasty, stinking rock! Too early in the curing process for me to use in my cycled tank and I'm not sure how great it actually is - looked more like a base rock to me. I have already been waiting too long for good liverock (2-months plus) so I went with the dry Marco rock they had on hand instead. Fantastic form and very porous, still felt kind of heavy though. It has a concretish look to it. I am spoiled from the light Marshal Island liverock days I guess. But the rock really fits togethor very well to form a seamless aquascape in my 20-gal mini with lots of nooks, crannies, caves, etc.. and it is obviously devoid of any life, good or bad. I ended up buying around 19-lbs. I only hope I live long enough to see it purple up - man it's stark white sitting in the tank. My Clown pair were probably suffering from symptoms of snow blindness after I initially placed it in the tank. They are avoiding the new structure like the plague so far. For the past two months they had an open tank with only snails and livesand to call home. I need to get some coraline scrapings to speed up the purpling process - anybody? Relying on the coraline that is on the snail's and conch's shells for the moment, that should take years. And I met the new guy (?) working there now, I forgot his name already, a very nice and knowledeable guy also.

Yeah, I was there on tuesday and it was a little noticeable some live rock was curing.Seen a new face but didn't get his name though.

CF in rochester has tons of great looking live rock at great prices worth the drive IMO they even have tonga and about 3 diff. other kinds.

Mark I thought his name was BJ? lol. I'm pretty sure it is! That Marco Live rock is fantastic! It is heavy but it's very very sturdy.

that would be T.J. and thanks to him for his help today-

sorry I couldn't decide on any coral but 3 chromis came home and are drippin' now.

+1 for the dragon wrasse they have there! Very cool juevie pattern.

That lookdown was lit by many powerbrites and man did it look cool! With all sorts of pipefish and seahorses and of course corals galore.

I was so intent on getting some liverock, I never even looked at their current livestock, let alone, be mesmerized by the lookdown tank. I did notice though that it was lit up purple, every other time I have been there it was white light. Maybe next time I go I can talk one of the guys to scrape me off some coraline from one of their tanks?
So now I have my rock and clown pair in the tank, looking to buy a green or red BTA for them. Figuring on maybe two more fish for this 20-gal Mini - thinking a fourline and maybe .................. a Watanabe? Tank might be too small for the angel though and I would like to go SPS eventually also, so not sure about the angel. Going throw a clam in also.
