Were they like this when you got them? I have similar looking ones that extend that far, I kinda like it but that's just me.

I have some too that stretch, I'd say they need more light, but also, mine are trying to surrvive some quickly creeping GSP. survival of the quickest

I have several that also extend that far even if I place them at the top of my tank. I believe they are just normally long/tall, while others are just short.

Most of my previous collection and my current collection only have 1-2 varieties extending, due to light... I have a colony of Devils Armour stretching out almost 3" no BS. it's almost to the bottom under 250MH.

In my frag tank, the Devil Armor is about 1/4 high, 10 inches below PC. There is a rack of SPS above them, in the shade.

The same origin of DA in my main tank, sits at the bottom of the tank, below a 250MH is about an inch high.

They all colour well...

no Tennyson, they r normal heigh as most zoos r. that really supprises me cause my 500watt MH could not satified their hunger for light.....i recently move they up 20" from thelight, just to see what happens...

2x250 watt, how high is the light off the tank... and how high are the DAs off the bottom of the tank. you don't have specifics on your tank height etc, Kelvin rating etc.

Here's some pics of mine stretching out, there used to be almost no stem until the GSP started invading, then it started multiplying like crazy and started growing out real long,I don't have a pic, but just recently some of the stems are reaching out about a few inches, the stems are super skinny, I'll try snapping a pic of it

I have found the same thing with some of mine over the years. Lots of people upgrade their lights or move their corals because they think they need more light.

I have some Armor of God zoas that were stretched out as far as they could be and they were on my sand bed. I moved them up about half way up the tank and they retracted to normal looking zoas in a few hours. Just about how much light they're getting or they're just naturally that way.

I dont agree with everyone... i have the same zoas on a frag rack about 5 inches from the MH in the center, they STILL reach up like that!

Maybe its something w/ that particular variety of zoa but I would agree with most on here saying that they are stretching for light... I've seen it happen in my tanks over the years.
