AC or DC

Are the streams run by AC, or DC, and if AC, how do you ensure that they spin in the right direction?

If I'm not mistaken, they are DC motors and use a transformer.

They are DC, the transformer puts out AC and the driver has a rectifier to convert it to DC. They have a computer program to ensure they start up correctly based on feedback from sensors in the pump.
