AC unit vs Tank Chiller

Melev don't you want the generator/backup system to start automatically? I haven't researched these at all, but what I was thinking was to have one that would fire up whenever we had a power outage. Maybe that is just a pie in the sky dream and would cost big time - but I can dream :D.

I agree with you with plc001's fishroom. As long as he keeps his house temps low and puts in a vent system like you were describing, I would think he would be OK. I think I'd try the fans, vent etc before putting a AC in such a small area - don't you think?

For me to have a whole house generator that turns on automatically, it would cost me about $5000 installed (Home Depot example). They run on propane or natural gas. My neighborhood doesn't even have natural gas, so I'd have to get an immense propane tank, and then get it buried so it is out of sight. These options just aren't appealing to me, so I have the kind you put gasoline in. The tank holds 2g at a time, I think, and runs for 10 hours. Making a sound-proof booth with a vent to run the exhaust out sounds like a fun project. ;)

Well, I have a feeling the gasoline model is what I'll end up with and just put the important house/fish electrical item on it. We normally have endless season of hurricanes and always need to be powerless for about a week or so. In the next month they'll be going on sale - just in time :D.
