Acan growth question

I have two colonies of acans that started as 1 polyp and are now up to 20 or so polyps. They have reached the edge of the rocks they are on and slowed growing. Are acans like a zoanthid and really only grow to the extent of the rock they are on?

If they are in close proximity to other corals than that can cause issues.
BTW how long did it take to grow from one polyp to their current state?

Wow. That is some great growth. I have not had luck like that in growing my acans.

Are acans like a zoanthid and really only grow to the extent of the rock they are on?

I really hope not. If so, that means mine will only grow as big as the frag plug that they're sitting on in the sand bed.
