Acan placement.

I've got 2 acan frags. What's the best tank placement for these? On rock, sand, high, low...? Thanks.

i keep mine low in the tank glued to rock. i have most of mine shaded under my SPS colonys. also try to keep them out of high water flow areas.
they grow at a good rate when you feed them.

Be also careful what type of acans they are - I just had a acan lord attack an acan echinata with the white filaments, and the lord lost the battle, about a third of the lord's polyps were gone by the next morning. I would say make sure you have 3 inches distance between the acan and any other coral you care about.

Here is a photo of one attacking a candy cane, much to the candy cane's dismay

WoW!:eek1: Cool to see. Thanks guys.

I have tried putting 2 of the same acan frags under different lighting (one high one low) and they are the same color, so I don't think placement is a huge issue for acans, other than being careful what is next to them. Jas is right about feeding, if I target feed them mysis they grow much faster.

I have mine on the bottom of my tank and is doing great.. Forget the mysis I feed my acan that is 4x3 a whole flattened out shrimp. It eats the whole thing....

I've got 2 frags on the sand in the bottom of my tank. I don't target feed and both are growing quite nicely. Then again, I do feed my fish pretty well so I'm sure they get lots of the flybye.

my acan actually stoped poping out as much as it use to in my old 37g in my new cube it seems that it is always retracted :( every other coral is open though, i wonder what the problem might be??

Too much flow??

Thanks guys.

acans don't like to much flow as the feeding tentacles need to be able to caught dinner. Also some acans like alot of light others like very little. You have to try and see how they respond.

thnx for the tips i will try and move it around maybe it is getting too much flow and not enough light where i placed it.
