Acans Acans Acans the collection journey

I may have skipped over this but what are you feeding them? I have mine under LEDs so they're not exactly growing fast, but my feeding has helped. I feed mysis and cyclops. Do you do anything different?

I like your thread my friend. I have seen this gentleman's collection in person and believe me, it's fantastic!!

I would like to comment on some earlier questions/comments on lighting and holding color. It's my opinion that reds don't like higher light, greens do. I keep my acans under LED with very good success and have had some intensely positive morphing under bluer LED. I have a couple of AllDelights pieces and they kept their colors from T5 to LED. When I switched out my Kessils A150's ocean blue (20kish) to a Radion I was having an issue with the artificial light program and went with the natural sunlight program at 40-45% intensity. This changed the light spectrum to a more 10kish range. In a month all my reds went to the orange to burnt orange side, yellows faded out, oranges became very bright and dominant in my rainbows and greens got greener. Additionally, the polyps didn't expand as much and were less puffy. Now that I have changed the radion program to the more bluer radiant program at 50% which peaks at 14K my colors are so much better and the rainbows are becoming more distinguished again in a week and I'm seeing hints of yellow again and purples are really nice. Plus my colonies are fuller with very good PE. I am hoping that in time my reds that became orange will become red again but if not I will add some red ones. So definitely in my opinion acans want the bluer spectrum of light for holding color and good polyp extension

What size tank? I seem to have lost some color on my acans with my radion (40b tank) I have since during the day time lowered my red and green channels to 30% and have seen improvement in the color. but my other channels are at 100%. Interestingly i have one acan slightly hide from the light and it has really nice dark blue with red and orange colors.

This is a picture of what I like to call: "what the H was I thinking"? acan... It is currently not in my 40gl death chamber but I wish it was. I took a pic of it during the last visit to its owner's tank... definitely a nice one.

Hahaha. Carlos, not only can you say "what the H was I thinking", but you can say it twice!! It hasn't made it way to unfraggable island..........yet.

nice acans, Debating on going back to t5 for the color or upgrading my radion to a pro for the uv. I miss the nice dark acan red colors...

mine stayed red without uv. The reds never morphed when I kept them under a higher kelvin temp, only when I switched to a lower one. In a month they shifted. When I used MH they stayed red under 20k and under led when I was using the ocean blue Kessil which is similar to the radium.

didn't you message me about switching to the Radion "radiant" program? That's a program that I think would keep red acans red

all delight can you take a picture of your camera settings? also do you do any touch up in photoshop if so what do you adjust? im still learning how to bring out the true colors and need all the help i can get haha

AMAZING collection btw... can we be friends ;)

We shall see, its only been a week or so. They are looking better, now that I moved them away from a eunice worm hole.

You are all enablers!! First it was zoa. I have 30 species and counting. Now it's acans. The shipment I got today puts me at 12. None as beautiful as the ones pic'd here, but nice. And, I'm already looking at some of the nicer ones!! Enablers!!
