Looking good man, Im setting up a 90, dumping leds and going with a 6 bulb t5, I am going to need some new frags soon...

Hi,

Amazing pieces as ever chaps :)

Seriously thinking of ditching my radion and going T5... I have a 60x45x45 setup with mainly acans but also a duncan and a hammer, this is my main display tank. Can i ask the following?

  • If i were to buy a non-dimmable 6x24w T5 unit would this be ok?
  • Tube wise im looking at 4x24w T5 Blue plus, one Purple and one Actinic, again would this be suitable?
  • Should i introduce this slowly (acclimate) or as i have radion running already would this setup be in effect a lower overall PAR compared to the radion?

Cheers,

Sure non dimmable t5 works good. I only run the dimmable on one of my tanks, all the others are either ati sunpower or powermodule.

The bulbs you are thinking of running is the same bulb combo I run on one of my tanks and I love it. If it is too dim for your liking once you get them going, you can always swap out the actinic for a blue plus. But that will increase the par level so you will want to raise the fixture.

If the par levels from the t5 is less than led, I personally wouldn't be worried about acclimating them. If it were going from t5 to led I would be.

I'm glad I found this thread, I just read the whole thing. Awesome corals, thanks for posting all the pictures.

You're welcome. It's been quite the journey. Glad you enjoyed the read.

Hi Bud what do you run your nitrates and phosphates at. Also alkalinkty calcium amd magnesium.

Thanks in advance.

You know...I don't test nitrates anymore. Once in a while I'll check phosphates and it usually reads 4.

I hope I can get my hands on some acans half as nice as this threads

Just keep your eyes peeled. :)
