Whats the general sucsess rate with these ?

i just picked up a healthy 6-7inch powder brown thats quite plump & full of life, already eating well.

everything i read on them says they do poor,then i'll see photo's of them,being owned for years.

sorry about the garbage photo's...the eos batterys were dead so these are off the cell phone.

They are alot like keeping achilles tangs. You need good water quality, high flow, good oxygenation of the water, nori, mysis soaked in selcon. Well, that works for me. If you can keep a healthy SPS tank, you should be able to keep the tang.
 
I had one for a couple of years. Was eating within a day of being in my tank. Was healthy the whole time I had it, and never had any issues with it.

Yours looks really good, love the coloring.

Ended up selling it when I moved because it was getting too big for my tank. Someday I will have a big enough tank for it.

Couple of old bad pictures of it in a holding tank waiting to be picked up ( along with other fish I was selling )

Is there any way to tell where he/she came from with markings ?

this guy/gal has alot more black it's tail than others I've seen,...also has a touch of red in the dorsal fin.

I'll get some better photo's today,...and thanks for the words of encouragement !

looks to me to be a white cheek tang Acanthurus Glaucopareius. the book I have (Dr.Burgess's Atlas 2nd edition) calls Acanthurus Japonicus the powder brown. just throwing that out there! ether way you still have a very beautiful fish.

Acanthurus Glaucopareius, is the old name for it.
