Acclimate GBTA advice? Handling Techniques?

I'm currently acclimating a GBTA its in a plastic its on a drip line, dripping about 1 drip per second.

So how should I handle it? Whats the best way to grab it? Base?

And how fast will it attach itself to a rock? Or will I have to hold it there?

Also does it sting humans? Should I wear gloves?

I always just scoop them up in my hand and place them on a piece of live rock. Turning your pumps off will help a lot until it grabs a hold of something. Healthy anemones should grab hold within a couple of minutes to a half hour. Only anemones that ever stung me were carpets. Hope this helps.

And how fast will it attach itself to a rock?

===========================

Make a rock crevice and then put it around it. Then try your best to keep it from powerheads.

The last one I put in my tank took about 10 minutes to fully attach to the rock. He actually held onto my finger for a little bit when I was trying to set him on the rock.

As others have said turning off the power heads and flow will help them attach a lot quicker.

just try your best to keep it from your powerheads. my last ritteri ended up in a powerhead, totally sliced up. I changed tons of water to save my fish.

I acclimated mine in the bag rather than a bucket. When the acclimation period was over I drained most of the water and then put the bag in the tank. I turned the bag upside down near the spot I wanted the BTA to live and it immediately grabbed on to live rock. It moved around a bit and found his spot.

The sting may have different effects on different people...like how some people are more sensitive to bee stings. When it sticks me it just sticks like a post it note does.

I've gotten more sensitive to it over time. Brushing up against them when doing other things in the tank leave me with something that feels like sunburn. Irritating but not that bad as long as it's limited to a small area. I would be very careful if I were allergic to bee stings, etc.

Mine was attaching to my hand as i tried to put it in. As for the sting.. i didnt feel anything at all. Try to not let it hit your arm or the back of your hand because the skin is softer there. Also wash your hands after you make sure you dont have stinging cells still there.

Thanks guys everything went fine, he moved under a rock then came out. took grip to the rock instantly. I used sandwich bags as gloves to take him out. No sting, everything went well..

Also the mouth? does anyone have a picture of what looks good, and what looks bad?

If you go to the search option and type in "update on bta". You should find a post from me when I introduced my BTA. The first photo is of the first week when he was in there, he eventually moved to a different spot and has been fince since. The mouth should be tightly closed and not gaping as in the first picture.

the mouth will change alot. normally you want to see a mouth closed. if the mouth is swelled it either means its hungry for food or is stressed. Mine is hungry alot so dont worry about that too much. if the mouth is slightly open after a big meal dont worry it probably is just expelling waste. finally the mouth will be gaping open when you feed it too.
