I cant figure out acclimation, I bought a male square back anthias and a flame angelfish on Saturday, I acclimated them for probably around 2 hours, then I put them in the tank on saturday. Then today around 6 hours ago I noticed they had white spots (ick) they had not had this this moring. I seem to get ick quite often. So if you could please tell me your procedure on acclimation and how I can fix these guys before they die.
Thanks, Drew

why are you asking about acclimation in relation to these white spots? you make it sound like you had these fish in their bags since saturday. I don't think this is what you mean, but your post is confusing. Please clarify. Thanks

Acclimation = Drip water into new fish bags over 1 hour or so. Do not dump your LFS water in your tank.

Acclimation is not = floating bags for 2 hours.

I never know why fish come down with ich. Sometimes it could just be the stress of being bagged. I always use a quarantine tank for a couple of weeks with new fish - that way you can treat them if they should develop ich.

I've never had ich on any of my fish since I went saltwater, but I still QT any new fish.

Hope this helps.

Okay, I see what he's asking now. He thinks that his acclimation procedures may have caused stress that left these fish susceptible to ich, right?

Drew- please let us know how you acclimated these guys, so that we may determine if that caused the stress.

I just acclimate for temp and drop in the fish Have never QT any thing and havent had ich (knock on wood)since I set up the tank four years ago.I know some people will flame me for this process but it works for me
