Achilles Tang not fattening up

Yep. I order mine in the 100 sheet packs through Foster and Smith, can't beat the pricing. The TLF purple and green are favorites.

The TLF you linked to is probably very similar, I buy it in the bulk 100 sheet package for $34 at our local fish store (that fish place). But i'm sure the TLF is probably the same in either package.

have u guys ever got the shredded ones ? how do you use them ?! I have a bunch of them which I bought last year at Boxing day lol

The TLF Julian Sprung's Sea Veggies? I feed a pinch to my Tangs any day that I don't leave an algae sheet for them. Since they don't sink right away, I usually leave my hand underwater for a bit while they soak up water and start to sink. Just be careful doing this depending on the fish you have of course :)

One huge misconception is that tangs are strictly herbivores - they are not. They eat a lot of pods or other organisms when they graze the algae on live rocks. If you are only feeding him nori, he is not going to gain much weight. He will need meaty food like mysis. Pellets would be best if he takes it but it doesn't sound like he does - something you need to train him on. My powder blue tang is crazy fat because he eats everything

Yup, my Tangs LOVE Hikari Mysis, among many other foods that also have some "meat" to them.

I think he had the main issue I had with my achilles, it won't eat anything but the nori. I tried everything with my guy and wouldn't touch anything but the nori for over a year, but I still managed to put a ton of weight on him by feeding great quality nori and soaking in selcon at times. Eventually (over a year later) he finally started eating NLS pellets. But as long as he doesn't have any issues otherwise, there is no reason why he shouldn't be getting fat even on just the nori. But obviously continue to try to offer him as much variety as possible, 2 years now and i'm still trying to get my guy to eat mysis ;-)
I'll repost the pic of my guy's girth, and this was while he was only eating nori.
