im really worried about my achilles...ive had him for about two years but lately...he is looking very thin. he is eating but only nori and when he does...very little. has anyone had any luck feeding these fish anything else? ive tried mysis, small pieces of raw shrimp, brine shrimp...everything soaked in garlic. i would hate to lose him...

Just for some clarification, you had Achille's for two years and the whole time only ate Nori? Or was the fish eating a balanced diet and then stopped and only eats Nori? Have you added any new additions that may have introduced parasites? My guess with limited info, would be internal parasites. Was your Achille's QT'd initially?

it seems the only thing he ate the whole time ive had him was nori...i found that to be odd but just thought it was a difficult high maintenance fish. i noticed always he turned away from everything else i fed the other fish...nothing has been added except some corals

I'm very suprises that he only eats nori for the pass two years.
I would be certain that is internal parasites which causes the thinning
on the fish. My suggestion is treat him quick or else
you are going to lose him. Btw does ur Achilles have any ick?

he did along with my purple tang but that was about six months ago...the achilles did have something wrong with one of his eyes. it swelled up and turned very cloudy. i looked it up but couldn’t pin point it. its better now...swelling went down and no longer cloudy. but his eating habits have always been nori only. it bums me out...the achilles is my favorite fish in the tank

if he is eating Nori why dont you blend some squid and prawn in the blender and soak the nori in the mixture so it absorbs the juices ,he will then be getting more than nori in his diet .

Mine eats everything I put into the tank. Nori, pellets, frozen, I mean everything. If you have had it 2 years already you had to have been doing at least ok to have had it live this long. Was it ever robust? or always thin?

I had a naso that would only eat nori also.He did that for about 2 years. Then one day i added some live brine for a treat for the other fish.He went crazy eating the live brine. Then after that he started eating everything i would put into the tank. But he was doing fine eating the nori only.Like others said.Soak the nori in vitamins and garlic before you feed him. Also you may want to up the amount of nori you give him.

Try some New Life Spectrum pellets. Every fish I have kept (except my banggai cardinals for some reason) love it. There are several different formulas you can try until you get him eating them. They are extremely nutitious too.

A friend tried a nori sandwich with nori outside and regular food inside like mysis type of things and that got his to eat. Maybe give that a try?
