It was a sad night last night....I had a really nice Blue Acro that I have had for almost a year, I recently noticed that there was something eating is slowly from the base, but overall it was doing well. It appeared to be a flat worm infestation so I purchased Tropic Marin Pro Coral Cure yesterday, I followed the instructions and after the dip noticed that the flat worms fell off, but the coral looked dead! ( I followed the instructions to the T), I checked it this am and confirmed my worst fears - death!!!! :( Has anyone else tried this product? I wonder if I could get a refund? I am concerned about future use of this product.

I think you will find a lot of people using this dip. It seems to be very popular with the sps crowd here on RC. I've only used it twice, but wasn't careful about going over the dosage.

I would guess based on your recent post history you have low alk, high nitrates, and (acro eating?) flatworms? All that combined is more than enough to kill most acros.

I don't think pointing to the dip as the sole factor in it's death is a reasonable assumption.

the dip is safe even at a higher dose and it will not cause a coral to die.it makes most acros turn a bit brown for a while but i never had one die after its use.i have used up to 1 bottle per five gallons of tank water with no ill effects several times.

Hi, thanks for the replies. I think the point being missed in my post was that although the Nitrates are high, and Alkalinity is low - the tank looks great! I have other SPS, LPS, and softies and there are NO other problems! The coral looked GREAT other that a small area at the base! The coral otherwise was fine, it immediately looked distressed when I put it back in the tank from the dip! That had nothing to do with the other parameters.
If I had not done the dip last night it would still be alive!

it was probably so stressed from the parameters being out and the flat worms that the dip took it over the edge, but i doubt that the dip that is being used wide spread in large aquaculture facilities, and by many hobbiests was the cause.it usually makes a sick coral look better.

Should you rinse it with sea water after the dip? Should I dip it for the shorter length of time than 15 minuites?

Even if your tank looks great, if the parameters are out of whack any extra stress won't help. If you have worms on one acro most likely there on others and in or on your rocks. I'd pull all acros out of your tank and let it set a few months without any to kill them off. I just a few live you will be back at square one again.

no problem.the flat worms can be eliminated, but it takes a few dips of all acros over several weeks, and manual egg removal.good luck
