Acronics sps Peninsula

I know, it's unbelievable. I am seriously looking into regenerating it but the method is putting me off. Thanks for stopping in and congrats again Steve.

Whoa! I got the greatest surprise in the sump today! The trochus snails have spawned again! I cant believe it, I dont have a video this time but I have a pic of one of the babies I found. This is the third time and it appears to be a black foot or even a mix of regular and black foot... So exciting!

Interesting, I was mulling over my thread and noticed that the last time the trochus spawned was post #47 on page 2 and that was 02/02/2011, almost a year ago. I wonder if it is related to the season and temp fluctuations...

The SPS must have had a field day grabbing all that free food, maybe ill see some good growth!

hmmm, I just checked my records and the first occasion of trochus spawning was in october, still a cooler seasonal change i suppose.

Awesome tank and red velvet!!!!!!! I have 1 too, they are incredible, yours looks better then mine though lol, mine doesn't have the gold/yellow color.

Thanks for stopping in mj and the compliments :)

Thanks Noob! I guess he is flashing the pellet ring! He is always hungry

A bit of bad news to keep me on my toes. I got home from work on sat as i first set eyes on the tank i knew something was wrong... Checking the tank, I notice that both my shrimp have died... wierd, maybe a water quality issue. Then I realise that some fish are missing. Two glass cardinals and a flame cardinal... WTH... Then I see my rabbit fish has these scratches all over his body as does the yellow tang. I thought maybe they had a scrap but it didnt look right. I see the tri color wrasse come out of hiding and he has a patch of white stuff on his head. That is when I realise that the tank has been infected and my guess is marine velvet. Emergency waterchanges were performed and the sumps cleaned meticulously.

This am, more deaths.... My rainfords goby is dead on the sandbed and the tri color is MIA. Also the yasha haze burrow looks abandoned... Im feeding more now and soaking the food in garlic to hopefully boost the remaining fish's immune systems but I fear it may be too late. This disease moves FAST. I'm totally gutted right now, Ive lost all the wind in my sails. The only thing I can think of is the pair of clowns I added earlier in Jan that mysteriously disappeared after 4 days in the tank. They must have been infected...

On a positive note the corals look good. I suppose at the end of the day I still have that.

Oh and GFO is back online again. I dont think I will ever run the tank without it again.

Hiya Kevin,
Gosh sorry to hear about the fish losses. So many :(
Have a thought about temporary UV or Ozone? Might help in boosting the water quality.
What do ya think any of the new additions brought this in? Or maybe a stressed fish got sick and it spread to the others?
Great news ur SPS are doing fine.
Keep us posted
Good luck

All is well in the tank, I have not lost anymore fish and I am winning the battle against marine velvet. Knock on wood.

I have some really nice frags comming in a week or two and should have a nice little update so stay tuned.
