acrylic buffing

Hi all!

Can anybody suggest a place where i can get acrylic buffed? (if any) i just purchased a 90 gallon from a fellow reefer here which is crazing a bit but i believe it has great potential. He gave me a brand new acrylic scratch removal kit but with my current schedule i really wont have time to do the buffing out myself.

Heres a few pics after cleaning it up a bit.

if anyone can recommend a place i would greatly appreciate it. I would like to get it done asap so i can get my remaining fish out of my 30 gal rubbermaid tub that ive been holding them in since i had to tear down my 55. :D

talk to a MARS member named Marc Daniels. Apparently he's working on an amazing product that will basically get rid of any sort of scratches, maybe even crazing!

He's always improving on it, but he has a very good method now IMO. Good enough to land some HUGE accounts, but i'll let Marc tell about those :D

I'm sure if you goto the MARS club forum, you'll find him. His name on RC is jsut that: Marc Daniels

i located him on the mars website but i havent had time to contact him yet. Xinumaster, do you happen to know his website. i actually had some time this weekend to try and buff it myself......so far the results are really good.....alot better than it was when i got it. ill post pics soon

i don't think he has a website. he's just one guy who's testing a method of buffing things out. I dont' think it's his job, just a side project he's working on?

Sorry, your wrong Art. He has a proven method, and he's always trying to improve on it. Please do not speculate about things you really know nothing about. It is a business and your post belittles his efforts:rolleyes:

i don't know much at all, which is why I formed the sentence as a question. it's just what I gathered from discussions I read. I never said his methods aren't proven, I've seen the results, and I know it's probably the best out there so far. I think the procedure is (at least at the moment) always done by himself since it's pretty involved.

Why are people so BRUTAL in these forums...Would anyone talk to someone that way in person. I would hope not. Thanks for the information Art, it led me to look into this guy for a really scratched tank I have. Gresham, You were very nice at the swap but when you make comments like " Please do not speculate about things you really know nothing about." try and use nicer wording at least. As a new member it scares me out of wanting to talk or giving advice because I am not an expert. A simple correction would have sufficed.

Thanks for the pointers, but, as a newbie, you may have missed numerous threads where Art has shot from the hip, only later to correct himself ONCE the damage has been done. I have been in this hobby long enough, and worked in it long enough, to see the first hand damage posts like that can do.

it's hard to understand people's intentions from posts, and it's unfortunate that gresham has to correct any possibility of misunderstanding in my posts, but in large scale forums like this, I guess sometimes it needs to be done since there are a few that take things too seriously, too critically, and pick out points that can be construed differently and may take it towards a more foul side of things.

i understand gresham's "brutal" ways, but heck, it keeps things clean, and I don't mind it. plus we're still friends regardless, it's the forums that need a bit of nanny work =P he gets in line for stuff I buy all the time anyway, he better be nice! >=)

It is not you or just this comment... I understand that there is alot of history that I as a new member know nothing of, I have just seen a lot of people treat eachother brutallylately and can't figure out why a hobby club would act in such a way. Thank you for an honest, but decent response. It has been more in mars that I have been upset to see the bickering and condescending talk. Maybe this wasn't the best thread to say something, but I guess straw has just been piling on the camel's back. Like I said Gresham, in person you seemed like a really nice guy and I look forward to buying more product from you in the future.

P.S. Your welcome :)

Yah, that was nasty. FWIW, every club seems to go thru that. Not all voice it on the net, but most do :(

Flim-flam and feelings aside I tried the Novus product for removing some scratching and they worked excellent.
I may try them with buffer since I got 8 ft of tank to work on.
