Actinic Lighting Only

I have a 2G hex aquarium with a number of mini-maxi anemones living in it on a small scape of rock, along with a pep-shrimp, a porcelain crab, and a small clump of chaeto...

I have been running an LED lightbulb in the 10000k range over it for 8 hours each day, and everything seems to be working well, but I recently got a new lightbulb all in actinic blue...it looks great and makes the nems pop!

I was wondering about switching to the actinic light only (for a while anyway), and wondered about what effect the change in wavelength would have on the tank inhabitants...any help that you can give me would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Jamie

Actinic lights are used in aquariums, primarily because they make fluorescent coral "pop" to the eye, but in some cases also to promote the growth of deeper-water coral that is specialized in photosynthesis using blue wavelengths.

so the answer you are looking for is yes, certain species of corals will respond well to strictly actinic light.
