Actinic shots

I put a new pair of VHOs over the tank last night, and Christy and I took turns taking pictures for the March photo contest (theme: actinic shots)

These were our favorites:

Great pictures indeed. I just got my new camera in and can't wait to get started (although I expect it will be a while before my pics look anywhere near as good as these). What coral is that in the 2nd pic?

The 2nd is probably my favorite acro of the ones I have. It's very nice, but it doesn't look like that all the time. Remember, actinics do weird things with color.

This coral came out of bgdiver's prop system in Venice. It's surprisingly low-tech, but his results are impressive. To my knowledge, this coral doesn't have a fancy name or anything.

I got three cuttings and mounted them to a small rock in November.

3 months later, it's taking on a much more branched growth form in my higher flow system.

Sniff Sniff :( I guess everyone likes Jeff's photo of the acro better than mine of the zoos. Oh well, it really is a great shot. I will probably have to vote for it myself. I think my zoos look prettier in real life though. :D
