Adam's 450 GALLON REEF TANK BUILD!

I think that would look really nice. I think nice cabinetry is key and helps make the tank. I know I balked, kicked and screamed at the estimate on my cabinetry but in the end it makes a huge difference.

Everything is looking great. Hope the ankle is getting better. Don't want the build to halt because you didn't rest from doctor's orders.

Today was rock dipping day. I dipped in Muriatic Acid, hosed them down, Sipped in Fresh water, then back in acid, hosed down, fresh water dip and hosed down again. I hope they are good to go. I used the Home Depot acid and stronger acid from Ace.

The tank was officially born today. Rock and sand are in everything is running and salt has been added! I now just need to clean up all the wires, finish programming on the controller and setup my lights. Here are some pictures.

Your old rimless tank was AMAZING! Sucks that brace broke on this new one but looks like you got things going in the right direction now. Can't wait to follow along.

Looks awesome Adam!!! hows the water looking?

The water is still a little cloudy but I should have some filter socks coming in the email on Monday that should help. I am also not running the skimmer since I can figure out how to get the pressure switch on the skimmate locker to work yet. It's Apex ready so it goes into an IO port but I can't figure out how to get that port to work. I already had a minor failure I was planning on running the skimmer for a few hours and shutting it down at night. It was doing a great job at pulling out the dirty water. The skimmer overflowed and I only realized because I saw micro bubbles in the tank. When I checked the sump the Tunze osmolator didn't kick in for some reason.

Thanks! The brace issue is in the past (I hope) because I am still like nervous about this one even though I got a new stand and took a few other precautions. A tank busting is a thing you read about on the internet no one actually thinks it can happen and I came pretty close!

Great job Adam. Can't wait for the cycle to complete.

Thanks! I can't wait my self and knowing my self I probably won't wait! lol I am waiting for the water to clear up before I start with the testing. I know the cloudy water has nothing to do with the cycle I am just not ready my self yet. I want to work out some minor plumbing kinks and get my lights up too before I start.

I'm really impressed with the octopus skimmer. I turned it back on and it did this in about 5- 10 min! I've had so many skimmers in the past I remember break in periods and dialing in for days and weeks just to get a little skimmate. It doesn't get easier then this.

The basic programming is easy getting it to do the special things where you actually write the language, that I have no clue how to do. I also can't get the firmware updated on my computer to show me the new dashboard which i think is easier to use.
