Adding another clown to an already mated pair?

I just got an established aquarium that came with a mated pair of false percs. I already have one false perc that was in my aquarium that I am now combining with the new one.
Will adding my clown to the mated pair disrupt them from mating? None of them are fighting or acting territorial and it's been a couple of days now.
Thanks!

When "mated" pair mature, they may kick that guys butt.
Or someone will probably get the boot the hard way.
One pair is rec.

From what I can tell that one clown was all by itself in your aquarium before adding these new ones, you probably have a female on your hands and adding a female to an already established pair is NOT a good idea, and as davocean said, they will fight, and you might end up with a dead clown...

now what if it's a mated pair with a smaller juvi (un-sexed)? will that work? that's what i have in my tank at the moment...they're all doing fine...sleeping in the same corner and all rubbing up against each other.

Yeah, you sound like one of the lucky ones...even in that situation, you could end up with aggression and losing the unsexed juvi. but it sounds like you have a nice 'lil clown family of three:)

You will be down to two clowns once those juvies mature. :D

Nay, nay, nay, a thousand times nay!

Clown "harems" or "families" only work out in the short term in captivity. Nearly all who try this end up with a dead clown when the dominant pair matures.

as far as i know, the pair has been a pair for ~1 year...the juvi is ~3-5 months old...they've been like that for ~2 weeks now...the plan is to not keep them like this long term...but if they do stay a happy family then i might reconsider and keep it as a trio though...but it's nice seeing 3 clowns swim around my tank together...it's a nice change of pace from seeing 2 clowns...we'll see how long this last...eventually i plan on taking the juvi out because i do intend to raise some spawns and that juvi might prevent the pair from spawning...

hexedagain,
Dude is that a real clown in your avitar? What kind of morph is it? It's crazy looking!...in a cool way...

It is real, and is a MAC Snowflake clown.

Those are a couple of the coolest fish I have ever seen!!! That black dorsal fin against the white back is freakin awesome!!!

i have three in a 100g and after observing them over the last year or so i can say that if the tank was any smaller there would be only two. i kinda feel bad for the guy he just wants to hang with his buds but half the time or more he gets escorted away from the brain back to his own.

i just noticed the 3rd guy (smallest) is now not sleeping at night in the same corner as the other two...during the day they swim and play together...hopefully this isn't the beginning of the end of the three stooges...

I took my clown to the lfs so that I could avoid fights and adding extra stress to the mated pair. So now it's just the 2 of them and they seem happy.
