Adding Maxi-Jet to Aquapod sump

I am trying to add a couple Maxi-Jet 900s to my Aquapod 24. I cannot seem to get the MJ's suction cup base in my sump. They will move to the bottom, but the base is too wide, forcing the suction cups into the corners, thus not sticking.

Before I superglue a large suction cup on the thing and abandon the stock base, what tricks are you all using to make these things fit?

Thanks!

You'll need a Dremel and 60 seconds.

You may want to take a look at my thread, I just did this last week (but for a 12g Aquapod)

Basically, you cut the two sides off the plastic plate that holds the side suction cups, just where it leaves the middle of the bracket. Then take one of those suction cups, and slide it in just below the middle one (there is a slot directly in the middle, where it will fit and STAY).

Voila!

IMO you wont need to do that. just makes it more work to remove for service/cleaning. you dont even need to have the suction cups installed

that's the whole reason I did it. it's a little pump that moves a fair amount of water. Any reduction in noise/vibration is a must for me. Besides, I don't see how a smaller frame would make it more difficult to service.

Keith - I took your advice. I didn't have a dremmel, but a large pair of cutters did the trick just fine. Night and day difference getting the pumps in. MAny thanks for the idea.
