Adding sand to my 130G Help

What do you think about using sand from the beach to form the top level of my DSB ?

I live on the Gold Coast in Australia which have fantastic
white sand beaches.
Has anyone ever done this or is this a bad idea.

I don't know about australia beaches, but here that is a bad idea due to the fact of all the pollution ends up there, and this can contaminate a tank quikly.

I agree with Tanger75, the problem is you have no idea what you'll be putting in your tank. Having said that you may end up with some really cool critters in your tank as well. Hmmmm, tough choice.

Beach sand is the ocean's sewer, and you know what a problem oceans now have with fertilizer, etc. Best get clean bagged aragonite and buy your micro-critters from a dealer or collect them at the beach with a tweezers and a collection jar.

What do you have in the tank? Having never been there and having no idea what the industrial environment is where you are, I'd think it would be ok, but there are a lot of good things to think about.
